I think the A30-8xl has a kv rating of 1100. So you can go with either a 5s or 6s set up, maybe even up to 8s but that would be pushing it. Look for something in the 4000mAh range for capacity.

5s with 20 or 21t pinion should be around 2000 headspeed
6s with 17t pinion should be around 2000 also
8s with 13t = about 2000

Hope that gives you a starting piont.

thank Ace, i think i am going with 5s/ 20-21 T for sport flying .. i am using A123 battery mod from dewalt 36v power tool . with 10 cells i could make them into 5s2p/18v/5000mAh/30c /700g pack, hopefull it serve me well

I believe Hacker rates that motor as a 3-4 cell, 5 is max, though I do remember trying 6S emoli on mine, briefly! I don't hink it will hold up to anything more than 5s, good luck

A123's have lower voltage than lipos I think, so you will need more in series then you would for lipos. The setups that Ace in the hole was talking about were for lipos.

Like jamesotron said, the numbers I gave you were for standard lipos. The numbers for a 5s a123 battery would be more in line with a 4s standard lipo set up.
