I have one of the new V-balance FP-B6s balancers.

It didn't come with any instructions regarding leads, which end is the battery end and which is the charger end. i really don't want to let the magic smoke out by hooking it up backwards. the balancer leads i understand. Any help out there, Ron

I thought I'd order an FP EVO 20 6S1P 4900 to go with my new TREX600 and thought why not get the new FP balancer to go with it as I wasn't sure my existing Hyperion LBA10 6S would connect up. I was pretty p'd to find that the FP battery wouldn't fit the FP balancer as the battery uses old Thunderpower plugs :arggg:

Research on the FP website tells us that new FP batteries would be rolled out with the new V-Balancer connector - no interim adaptor leads were supplied. Scouring the net didn't reveal ANY female TP plugs I could use as an adaptor so I ended up using a spare Hyperion adaptor and soldering it onto my new FP EVO20 battery.

Some points - the FP balancer connector is like the Hyperion Align version except it has 8 rather than 7 pins of the Hyperion balancer - the fix is to make sure the Align plug is put in nearest the black connector OP of the V-Balancer - worth putting an alignment mark just to be sure (see pic).

There are 10 wires coming out the EVO20 into 2 TP connectors 6/4 pin. You get these down to 7 by discarding the last 2 (Finless already covered this in a separate post) and noting that wire 4 and 5 are the same so one can be cut down and discarded - see FP wiring diagram:

The pack works very well like this and the new V-Balancer seems quite good - it kick starts the Astro-Flight 109 into charging on Link mode which the Hyperion balancer never used to.

Hope this post helps anyone stuck :)

Your AU INporter is the one who specifies the non-standard balancing taps. All the rest of the world has been getting the TP compatible taps for the last few months.

Good job making it work for you!!

Hi Will - which is non-standard the TP plugs on the battery or the female connector on the V- balancer

From the info I have been given the AUS importer gets some kind of different balancing tap put on all the FP packs they import that are not the same as the rest of the world. I say this because I know pilots in AUS who buy their packs from the US to get the TP compatible taps on their packs because they don't want the ones the distributor in AUS has put on the packs.

Taps = the balancing "plugs" as you call them that are on the packs. What I am talking about has nothing to do with the V-Balance Modules, only the packs themselves.
