I have it installed in my stratus for about a year now. the last couple of flights minutes in to the flight the tail servo locks in one direction. I end up piro all the way down. when I move the rudder stick it moves to the other side then it sprigs back to the other end. I make sure off course the gyro initializes at first. I personally think the gyro has become defective.
what do you guys think?

I would try another servo first. Servos act irratic when they are on the way to failing.

Hello David,
I put in the new 611. the smoothist tail ever. Gain 36% and loving it. WOW
I think the 601 need servicing. This will be my first time sending something to futaba. How customer friendly are they?

You installed the 9256 servo that comes with the GY611 also?

I agree it sounds like that servo was getting ready to go.

I have GY 601's that I have had since they came on the market back in 2000. They are still the same two original gyro brain boxes. It that time I have replaced the servo once on one model and twice on the other.
All three times the servo would be erratic and act like you described above. I always carry a spare 9251. So when the servo first acted erratic I would change it. The new servo cured the problem every time. I would think send the 9251 in and see if it is servicable.

something interesting happened today. I've used the new 611 for about 2 flights with no issues. today I noticed the tail statred to drift to the right. It started after doing some piro-flips. I increased the gain to 38. A few minutes in to the flight, it happened again. What has gone wrong? IS it the famous stratus sensor mounting issue again?
I will hate to move the sensor to the battery tray.
thanks

Well, I added another layer of double sided tape to the sensor. Hope this will work. I'll test fly (weather permiting) and post results.

It did not work. :arggg: I'm forced to move the sensor to the battery tray. I hate to do that, but I have no choice.

Moved the sensor to the battery tray. IT WORKED. I have to say however, that I don't feel comfortable putting it there.
