Here’s an overview of my Trex 450 Sport tail setup. I am using a GY520 and a 9257 for tail control. I did install the voltage regulator for the 9257. The V2 servo mounts work great. Servo ball 8mm from center. Using the Finless “grip-flip” and KDE linkage upgrades. A word for those. They require you to use the stock brass bushings and my experience has been that they don’t often slide right in. I polished them with fine polishing compound on a dremel wheel and they work great. Anyone interested in rate mode, I have rate mode pitch built in with the slider centered, and arm 90 with the grip-flip. 68% gain in HH and 30 for rate mode with a DX6i and AR6110E. Hope this helps with any new Sport builds. I’m a new flyer, so it’s easy stuff for me, but this thing is rock solid now at my level.

:confused:wow nice . ? in your tx do you set your gain channel which is ch 5 to 50% or 100%.Then in your gyro menu. you adjust the gain in hh mode more or less same in rate mode ,more or less. And what is the grip flip thanks, need help understanding this

With the DX6i, the gyro is plugged into the rudder channel, and the gear channel is used for gain. anything above 50% is HH and below 50% is rate. With the setup shown there is enough torque correcting pitch built in with center slider and the grip-flip. I tried it at 25% to start and had a lot of "twitching". 30% calmed it down. the 68% set on the TX seems to work great in HH. The Gyro menu on the DX6i is really just INH or not. Turn off INH and you get the rate selection menu. The consensus here from the guys that know say learn to fly in HH so I am.

thanks .I ment to say is in the tx is your endpoint on channel 5 at !00%or 50%.And what is the grip flip on tail holder? thanks again.
hate to tell you this but for the sake of the record on any 450 builds .. a 450 is the easiest heli i own to get a good tail on and it doesnt require alot of esoteric setup parts and $$ to work well simply a good mechanical setup and free linkage .. mine is pretty rock solid at my level with a telebee and a budget gyro .. if you need proof i can post a vid .. your tail setup is nice though no doubt about it ..

Check out the "tech room" here on this forum. Under the 450 Pro build, Finless Bob explains a ton about tail geometry and his solution to improving the stock geometry. His video shows it all. By changing to trailing edge control, the tail blades have a built in counteracting pitch at center slider. In my case on this Sport, the pitch was enough to fly very well in rate mode without the usual hover-adjust-repeat method. I only tried it out of curiosity as I'm learning to fly in HH.

It may be my inexperience, but I wasn't able to get my Sport tail right with the stock set-up. I tried everything. I built a clone Pro, and it was rock solid with this set-up so I started experimenting to get the Sport solid. It is now.

Hope it works out for you :)
I have the same setup on my sport and it holds very well.
Those KDE upgrades and K&B blades are well worth the money.

Looks great Gary,
Ive had no end of issues with the tail on my sport, especially with the bushing binding on the shaft, I ended up getting the CNC upgrade for the tail pitch slider and the metal tail control arm and its worked out well for me, but I digress.
I purchased a S9257 yesterday and will be fitting it to my sport tonight so its nice to see someone else doing it and showing pictures.
Thanks
Graham
