View Full Version : Logo 14 Frame plates

I have finished Will's Logo 14 but one thing I am a little concerned about and thought I would ask if this is a problem or not.
The frame plates like the RX plate the bottom plate, etc are all in the side frames in "notches". This means they can move around in the notches. Does anyone secure these with glue or anything in case of vibration and the possibility of these plates generating noise? That is a carbon to carbon interface and it just concerns me a bit. If this is not a problem fine... just though I would check to see if anyone secures them better so then cant "rub" in the notches?

I did not glue mine on the 2 I have built. Never been an issue for me. Keeps it simple for the rebuilding process.

Didnt glue mine either, but thought excactly the same as you did.

Didn't use anything on mine either. There is very little play with my frames.

Didnt glue mine either, its kindof moving if you dont have all parts installed, but when you have everything mounted (servo's, tail, landingear) etc, its quite firm.
+ it probably help to take out force if you crash without breaking the frame, Im still amazed that it held up in my last crash.

So I take it your impression of the logo 14 was a positive one ?

Yes I liked it very much. I flew Will's only once LIGHTLY to test it before shipping it to him. Just some basic flying really.
Notes I had:
Rudder end points need to be rasied for a faster piro rate. I had them at 100% as I had heard of tail gears stripping and wanted to be careful first flight.
Replace the plastic tail blades! At 34% gain on a 611 I still had wag.
Roll rate rocked but flip rate was about 1/2 the roll rate. I have LOTS of room to increase swash % for cyclic so I would increase elevator a bit more to see if I can get that even.
Power was good but I did expect more. Will's Kontonics motor stated a timing of 0-5 degrees and I set it to 5. Changing that may change the power more. Anyone know?
Anyway here is a video I shot of the very first flight for Will and figured I would share it and get some opinions from people that own one?
BTW I was REAL nervious for the first flight since this wasnt my heli :(

Regards to tail blades, Radix 92mm, 29% gain (yes, that low), holdes extremly well.
But, also, I had to glue the pushrod holders, because I managed to twist them when I was taking in/out the heli from the car, else you get wag..
Yeah, Fliprate is slow, adjust swash mix settings, you can normally even up the roll without getting any bindning.
Regards to power, did you tach it? Whats the headspeed?, I dont know the hacker esc's so well..

Wooohooo! Congratulations on the maiden flight!
Hard to tell from a video, but it looks and sounds right. I was going to suggest that you waited to take off until the rpm has stabilized, but realized that you are using a Hacker ESC and not a Jazz... I would try a bit more pitch as suggested.
If the EVO pack is brand new it might break in after a few flights and deliver more punch - at least thats what happened to mine.
Started up the video and went to get a cup of coffee, and suddenly my wife started laughing. First time that has happened with a heli video

With the Hacker esc you can run that particular motor at 7-9 degrees I am told, and with the Hacker esc the timing degrees makes a huge difference. 2 degrees even may not sound like alot, however on those escs I found that is a bunch of performance as long as the esc does not get too hot. Will knows the ins and outs I think on that ESC and will bump er up'
Rudder end points need to be rasied for a faster piro rate. I had them at 100% as I had heard of tail gears stripping and wanted to be careful first flight. I run my endpoints on a 9C at 97/97%, the limits at 135%/125% and on f3C mode, works well there.
Regards to tail blades, Radix 92mm, 29% gain (yes, that low), holdes extremly well. That is on a 14mz correct? That translates to a 601/611 display of 32-34%??

Nope, 29% on radio = 29% on gy611 display.

Oh ok, I stand corrected! Thx, I had heard that the % on the 14 did not match the 611 display. That is low indeed Mel, must be a elevation and hmidity thing, I run 34% with same tr blades as you.

Oh heck the % absolutely matches the 611 gyro display.
Thanks for the tips on the motor timing and funny you should say that. Will sent me the programmer box and told me to set it to 8 degress. I called him later and said that the specs on the motor said 0-5 and he told me to set it to 5. Based on what your saying the 8 he originally had me set it to was probably better!
Thanks...
Will you reading this? If not I will leave you a note!

Dang it... I did not even notice that... Shanon is going to get a swift kick in his battery pack for that one!
