Seems like this is the problem with the cp rpo. The TAIL MOTOR..
Has anyone figured out how to get the tail to work without burning up motors?? I want a permanent fix...

Well,
If you want a permanent fix, I would purchase a TREX.
Now back to the weak little tail motor for the CP/CP Pro. I have found that the dual tail motor mod is a good kind of solution. It allows the motors to split the load and they both run very cool. I flew over 80 - 15 minute flights with a set of esky tail motors (3S lipo and 9t pinion), before failure.
The draw back to this mod is tail weight. It forces you to place the battery further up and or purchase a heavier battery. I just like to cruise around with my CP/CP Pro, so this is not a big deal.
I have used both the Micro Heli and helidirect dual tail mod. I prefer the Microheli version, even though it is a bit more expensive. It is made better and screws onto the tail boom. The helidirect one glues onto the boom and actually broke (fixed it with JB weld). I had a buddy who had the helidirect one break in the same place as mine also.
There is a Direct Drive mod you can do also, but there are a lot of people saying that the motors still die fast with this set up. I have never tried it.
Hope this helps.

Ya thats what I read too. I guess I'll try the dual tail motors.
I have a trex clone coming soon. Figured that would be a goood winter project to do! :glasses:
I just been fighting this tail and I want to get it straitened out. I have a g90 gyro on it and I have the super skids on it to so the skids put a little more weight towards the front anyways.
I also put a metal swash palte on to. I made a nice little centering tool to center my swash plate with the servos centered. Im using a hitec optic 6 radio.

I use the GWS 50H motor direct drive with 3020 push on props. Going on 11 months now.

Zooland,
WOW, 11 months with the same tail motor?
I just may have to check into that. What set up are you running besides that.

I have the same set up as zooland and it works great. Also with shorter tail rotor blade it doesn't hit the ground as often or fly off and you have to hunt for the rotor. They are push on props.

I have a cheap telebee gyro and the helidirect dual tail motor mod, my tail holds pretty rock steady and I only have to correct it once every 30 seconds or so during a straight hover. Full power climb outs dont effect it much either, holds very well. Had this setup for 4 months now and still going strong. With the 1320 lipo set forward the heli balances perfectly level.
Is it a huge improvement over a well setup stock gyro/single tail motor? Yes yes yes, the biggest difference was the second motor, the stock gyro does a good job if setup correctly. The HH gyro just made things easier is all. My thumbs up to the dual tail motor mod.
