Looks like your going to get all top of the line equipment. Your list of items looks good to me.

8.18 gear ratio Extreme kit.

the 2400 mah battery you will get 3 maybe 4 flights between charges.

If you have the money I would get the Duralite's for your Tx and Rx. It's a big investment up front for the charger and everything but you'll like it in the long run.

Might want to consider the 15T tail speedup gear or really wide blades, gives more tail authority (and is there ever enough  ).

Second that on the duralites as well, i would get them over a painted canopy myself.

I use the stock tail gears on all of my machines and love them. You should try some MAH G2 710's sometime.

ferret,

Check out the following link to Duralite Plus Batteries:

http://www.duralitebatteries.com/packages.html

Scroll down and look for the #He-pkg2 Helicopter Package. The batteries are Lithium-ION and work very well - we use the 4000mah pack in the Fury Extreme to allow 12 to 14 flights (your mileage may vary). This package gives you all that you will need to setup a 90-sized chopper. Use the charger (#21007 - Charger ) that is provided to charge the pack - a simple light glows when charging and goes out when the pack is charged. The pack also has the built in "Charge Safe Circuitry" protection that monitors the charge process and stops the charge if any issues arise. Simply charge the pack and you are ready to fly. The IONs do not have a memory so you can charge as often as you like.

Use the Digital Load Tester to check the pack - the "no-fly" voltage is 6.9 volts.

There is one other item that you may want to purchase/upgrade - Upgrade to the Voltage Regulator with the Fail Safe Switch:

http://www.duralitebatteries.com/accessories.html

If the switch fails, it will fail in the "on" position and not turn off the receiver pack in flight. I have seen a switch fail in flight - good thing the guy had this switch because his chopper would have been a "free-flight chopper" :wow2:

Check through the site for more info. It's nice to charge and fly all day. Once you get a set, you'll never go back. The support and service is the best.

ferret,

I'm not sure what you mean by the "watt metre"? Where did you see this?

The setup for the batteries is very simple and depends on if you get the "switched" or "unswitched" regulator. The directions for the regulator explain the setup - very easy and quick. Just charge the pack (3 to 6 hours) and you are ready to fly. Use the Load Tester to monitor the batteries. The 4000 mah pack is wired as a redundant pack so if a cell fails, the other side of the pack will keep you flying - checking the pack with the tester would indicate a sudden drop in voltage and you would want to send it in for repair. Bottom line is the pack has extra security to help save the chopper.

go with the mah main blades or the v blades 690 not the 710
if you are doing 3d

John,

Why not use the 710 vblades? I just got a set for the new extreme im building up and thats what was recomended to me. They are 710 5mm bolt, 185g newest version out....plus im planning on running the 95mm paddles with it as well....is there a problem with the 710's i should know about??? i've pretty much always used v blades and just about swear by them.

The 710's are fine. They just load the disk a little more. A little better collective management and the benefits are great using the 710's.

Well and thats kinda always been a trait of the vblades....and if your willing to deal with it and manage the collective, i've always felt the vblades run great.

You want the 700 or 710s (standard) on the Extreme; the 690s are used on the Tempest due to the fact that the distance between the bolts is greater thereby giving you a greater distance to the blade tips. Zak is running 710s, 105s, and the MAH paddles - rock solid and snappy. Check out my gallery.
