Is it ok to put the regulator next to the receiver in a glow heli?

I do but... I try to give it some foam pad distance.

Try to keep the regulator as far as possible from the RX.

The regulator provided with the Trex 600 is a linear regulator, in effect it dumps the excess voltage as heat through a resistor, not an electrically noisy procedure and mine is close to my receiver without any issues (as are a few other peoples I know).
Regulator which will take much higher input voltages work on a different system, they are switching regulators and work by rapidly switching on and off so the system 'sees' a lower overall voltage, these are electrically much more noisy and I would give these some distance plus adding a ferrite ring to the lead into the receiver.
