I have finally been bitten by the heli bug. Well actually I've wanted one for about 8 or 9 years, but finally have gotten one. I'm starting small with a Honeybee King and had a question about the blade mounts. How tight are the blade rood pivots supposed to be? I'm not talking about the collective, but where the blades and blade grips are connected. Is it supposed to be a tight fit, or be loose so the blades can lead/lag as needed?

Mitch...
It is very important that these be snug, but not tight. They should not be loose enough to move freely and not be tight enough to require a "good grip" to move them. On an electric heli, there is very little input power "pulsing" going on but the blades need to be "unlocked" so they can self center. The lead-lag is more important on Internal Combustion Engine helis.

Hey,
A quick check is to turn the heli on it's side and the blade should stay were it is and not swing down on it's own. Then a light shake should make the blade slowly fold downwards under it's own weight.
Another thing to bear in mind is that the power from an electric motor is almost instantaneous and even with a slow spoolup set in the ESC the power can still come in quickly to start with. Hence you may need to go a little tighter on the blades if during spoolup they swing back to much.
