I have the NF 5S 3700MAH pack and when I charge it through the V-Balancer I cannot charge it more than 2.5A and it charges and when it get past 2.5A the charger turns off. I thought that with a 3700mah pack to charge at 1A it would be 3.7A. Is my thinking off? Am I doing something wrong in the charging process? Any help would be greately appreciated.
I use v-balancers with the same packs and Shultze 330d chargers. The v-balancer will stop the charge if the voltage of any cell(s) is above 4.21v. This has only occurred occassionaly on one or two of my packs. I notice that towards the end of the charge cycle the balancer is working pretty hard, esp on the #3 cell. This is the middle cell and is probably due to it geting the most heat (I think, but do not really know). This has not seemed to significantly effect the capacity of the packs though since it is charging at pretty low amps (~0.25 amps) when it turns off.
I charge my 3700's at 3.5 amps (just under 1C). In your case I would use the v-balancer as a standalone balancer first, after use, and then charge through them at a lower rate, say 1.5-2 amps and see if the balancer can keep up with the cell(s) that it is tring to pull down. Maybe after a couple of cycles it will fix itself. Otherwise, you might have a damaged cell, in which case you should send them back to Duralite for inspection/replacement.

Thanks Tom I will give it a shot and see how it goes.

Tom is correct. One other thing to try is that after flying, put the V-Balance module on the pack giving your trouble and let it work for a while, then try to charge it and see if that makes a difference in the rate you can use.
Ya that's what I was trying to say as well. I always balance stanalone with the v-balancers first, after a run, and then charge through them.

Thanks for all of the help. I didn't balance before I charged and now that I balanced first It is charging much better. I love the V-Balancer and TP 1010 combo. Also the New Formulation packs are the best ever. Not to put TP down because they make a great lipo but the NF Evo packs kick Arse all over the tp Extremes. IMHO
Alvin, glad it worked out for you. I always rebalance first, before charging, which sometimes will only take a few seconds, or a few minutes at the most.
