SE?
Titan?
V2?
Pro?
3D?

I want to buy a 50 size Raptor. What are the differences here? Which one should I get? The Titan is newer (I think) but seems to be a lot cheaper than the SE. Can anyone help me out?

I currently have a bcx and mx400pro w/extras. I used to have (a few years back) a shuttle ZXX. I don't want one that I need to upgrade.

I'd really appreciate any feedback or advise anyone could provide.

How did we go from "which raptor" to "which head"?

From spending some time on the ace web-site I've narrowed it down to 3 basic choices:

50 V2
50 SE
50 Titan

Each can come with extras like motors, cf blades etc.

So please help me decide which one to buy. I've got a Titan on order but now I don't know if that's the right choice. Escpecially since the Titan's are out of stock at my LHS and they're telling me 3 weeks or more.

Personally I'd go with the titan and the Gforce head.

As far as your original question, The 50v2 has been discontinued, although ace's website doesn't show it. The SE is a nice option, but The titan has push pull elevator, collective, and a longer boom. For the price of the SE you could have a titan, and have money left over for a nice set of blades or an aftermarket head. Then the only thing the SE would have have over the titan is carbon fins.

Thanks bgjames111.

Do you know whay the SE is so much more money than the Titan?

Does the SE have the push/pull elevator and collective?

yeah, it comes with a metal head block, TT sells one for close to $100. Also includes carbon fiber fins, and a stainless flybar. The only real advantage to the Se is the metal headblock, but what were finding is that the TT head isn't the best head any more, there are better options now that clamp to the shaft. The SE does not have push pull collective, or elevator. You would be better off getting the Titan, and adding a metal head, than you would be by buying the SE and adding a titan boom, belt, and the push pull stuff.

Don't let people tell you that you NEED a metal head. Only of you are ready to fly 3D with a head speed of over 1800 rpm

Skak,
I was facing this same decision awhile ago. I went with the Titan. I liked the Push-pull Collective, Elevator, and Cyclic controls and having the tail servo mounted by the boom as opposed to having it up front. The longer boom on the Titan should give more tail authority and also lets you run 620mm blades if you’d like. I can’t give you any flying impressions yet as I’m waiting on my servos and gyro. If the performance of the Titans I saw flying at the Mulberry Fun-Fly this past weekend is any indicator it’s a pretty awesome machine, in the hands of an advanced flyer anyway (which I am not) . I really don't think you can go wrong with any version of the Raptor 50 as they are all upgradeable to whatever level you desire. I’d say start with what’s in your budget, get it in the air, and then worry about upgrades like the metal head and so on. Which ever way you go, have fun and fly often!
