Started flying my old R30 V2 recently after getting a Trex 450 SE. Always thought the old R30 was not capable of any 3D. I was doing flips and rolls recently, and after take off on the second flight, the bolt that holds the rotor head sheared. The head and blades landed 20 feet from the frame. Both ends of the bolt were still stuck in the plastic head. The center part that is inside the main shaft was gone.

Has anyone had this happen? Should this bolt be replaced on a regular schedule?

My thoughts
strange things can happen over time. If the heli had been sitting for a while in a humid area, rust could set in and the bolt could become fatigued and snap. if the bolt was not tight enough and you have a bit of play, that constant movement could beat the bolt to death. i would check every so often. What is often :dontknow I'm usually taking the head off for some reason or another to repair from a crash or just check things out. Maybe someone else has additional info. good luck

I had a brand new machine do that to me once, what Really had me hacked off, it was in a brand new Interceptor fuselage..
You can do a visual on it, but nothing's foolproof..
