I`m trying to do the initial setup on my T Rex 600 using the above tx and gyro and have a few queries.
I have the ATV set to 150% as recommended and even when the gyro pot for travel adjustment is turned to minimum there is still to much travel on the rudder.Reducing the ATV to about 60% stops this.Does this sound right or am I missing something?
The ball on the servo arm is 14mm from the servo centre. The suggested 16-18mm gives far too much movement.
Aux 2 is being used for gain adjustment
Also should I be using the `Gyro Sensitivity`menu on the TX for gain adjustment or the ATV on the the selected channel?
Just a bit confused with this kit at the moment,a bit different to the Futaba so any help with this setup would be appreciated.

Thats a 8103 tx and 500T Gyro in the US

Do not turn the ATV down to get the throw correct move the ball in on the servo. You can not use the ATV to set the servo travel because that is what is used to control the piro rate. The 16-18mm suggestion normally works on most glow helis and most electrics need the ball moved in to get the correct travel.

For the gain adjustment if you are using the gyro sensitivity screen the gain is set there and leave the ATV set to 100% in both directions. When you use the the gyro sensitivity screen 0 gain is 50%, from 50% to 100% is heading hold, and from 50% to 0% is rate mode. When setting the gain you have to figure the actual
amount because 50% is 0 gain (60% in the radio is actually 20% gain, 70% = 40%, 80% = 60% and so on with the same thing happening on the rate mode side.

If I use the Gyro screen on the TX I take it I can`t actually switch from normal to heading hold and have to go it the setup screen and alter the settings either side of 50%.

I am not sure what you are trying to say, but if you are asking if you can go from normal to heading hold in a flight mode no you have one or the other. I don't normally fly in rate mode in any flight modes other than when I am mechanically trimming the tail, and then I set it back to heading hold in the gyro screen.

Thanks Paul thats what I was after.
I think I`ve got it sorted after a few hours last night.
In the end....150% ATV on the TX with the ball on the servo arm 13.5mm from the centre of the servo with the limits reduced to stop binding using the pot on the Gyro.
`Gyro sensitivity` menu used with initial gain in heading hold at 70% and the slight creeping of the servo arm stopped by dialing in about 4 clicks of sub trim.
Will alter if needed when the heli is finished and test flown.

Also be very careful on your first piros on many glow helis with the ATVs set to 150 they are very fast. I backed off on the ATVs after test flying to a more comfortable piro rate.
