Is there a difference between these two or are they just two different names for the same thing?

Idle up, stunt mode, flight mode, all ways of saying the same thing.
Really, with modern computer radios Flight Mode is probably the best description because you can set up a flight mode to have a set or parameters unique to that mode for example:
Pitch and throttle curve (this is the obvious difference) but you can also make
Dual rates
Expo
Gyro Gain and
Trim settings
unique to that flight mode.
