Hello all, I just ordered a new swift kit and all the trimmings and was hoping you could let me know if this set-up will be ok or not. I am a newbie and am still in the hovering stage with my T-rex HDE. So, here goes, Swift Kit form ( I like to build em from the ground up ) Century brushless 600 motor, century electron 50/60 ESC, 14T pinion, GY401w/9254 for the tail, Hitec electron 6 rx, 3x HS5645MG servo, alum antirotation bracket. I will be using my Hitec Eclipse7 transmitter, will this set-up work for a newbie? I was also wondering if I should get any of the alum. upgrades since I,m building from scratch and wont have to tear down later to upgrade. Any advise will be appreciated, I'm downloading the finless vids now so I'll be ready when the goodies arrive.

Hey,
That sounds a good spec to me, I dont know if I'd use the Electron Receiver in a model of this size though and I am trying to remember if it's a PCM unit or not.
Personally I prefer to use PCM on electric heli's for the simple reason of the possability of interference and filtering it out of the signals, but I know many others use PPM without trouble and so the flier has to decide what he's happy with.
You haven't made any mention of what batterys you will be using, LiPo, Emoli or NiMh's?
Upgrade wise there is only two I would suggest off the building block if you fancy fitting them now :
1. The metal motor mout as it helps with cooling and then
2. The metal boom clamp as it grips the boom much better than the stock plastic unit and inturn allows you to wind a bit more gyro gain in.
The rest, just build, fly and enjoy!

Thanks for the reply. The electron 6 is not a PCM, it's what I have in my T-Rex and I have no problems with it. As for batteries I have not decided/ purchased any yet, I figure I have a little time while doing the build to decide wich way to go. I am leaning towards a 5 cell Lipo if I can swing the cost, I am not sure on the others as to what size pack to run. Any suggestions? Again I am omly learning to fly now so I don't need insane power.

A 5s lipo would give you about 1860 HS on a 9T pinion, this is assuming that your motor is the 600 Plus.
For sport flying, 1800 -1950 HS is a good range.

Hey,
One of my fellow Century fliers, Adam Turner has got a video posted with him flying a Swift fitted with the new 600 Plus and running a 4s LiPo!
The available power has made me sit up and take notice, as I fly a 6s configuration and if it all goes wrong (sometimes it does) then a 6s pack is a lot of money to replace :?
Check it out here : http://www.centuryhelimedia.com/videos/products/CN1040/Swift16_4S.zip
I think you'll be surprised and happy at the possability of using a cheaper 4s LiPo which will then take you into 3D.

That sounds good to me, I can swing the 4s lipo a little easier than the 5s. Thanks for the help.

Yes but look at the flight time! Roughly 3 min. then landing. Great performance but only for a short time. After 10 min I'm ready to land but at 3 I'm just getting wound up!

I ended up going with the Century 12c 30a 14.4 v Nimh. I also ordered a BEC since the Century ESC won't support 14.4V battery. I think this will be ok for power while I'm learning to hover and into figure eights.
