How are you suppose to tell if the throttle is open or closed when you have a ARF. on a raptor 30 v2. Is the linkage to the front or back for closed?

depends on the engine. usually the carb rotates counter clockwise if you are looking from the left side of the heli.

I bump it with the starter, no fuel or glow heat.
there's a drastic difference in sound, loud is wide open, quiet is idle.
makes it 'in a hurry dummy proof'..

All the engines I had so far they open (if you look from the throtle arm side) counter clock wise.
But I thought about that before I assembled mine and made a mental note so I don't screw up.
You can either drop your engine and check it or even easier post your engine model here (since they are not that many I guess a lot of people might have the same one) and someone will tell you.

wayne's suggestion is the smartest way to find out, or heck drop the engine and look!

Also most of the os carbs move outward to the arm side a few mm as the barrel rotates open and slide towards the carb body as they rotate closed.
