The interesting thing, I dial indicated the main shaft, out of the heli of course, and it is straight and the main blades were not damaged at all, not even a scratch. Broke the right side frame but didn't even bend the landing gear. Really a strange crash.

ScotY this pic is just for you. heres a pic of my auto hub that uses the stock red pulley. it works great. runs perfectly smooth no binding or grabbing. Unlike the stock white pulley. the screws i used are about 2mm too long but do not affect it in any way. they were the only screws i had on hand. the right ones will be here tomorrow. i actually made 2 of these, since the prototype worked so well. I have 2 raptor 50's i figured they both should have one. if anyone wants one let me know. im thinking about 12 bucks plus shipping.

i would love to see a better way to mount the main fuel tank......the stock way sucks..those little nubs just shear right off...

That's awesome! Sign me up...naturally, I want one! Does it add any additional weight over the stock V2 setup? Oh, and one question...I have a V2 Raptor...what additional parts would I need to purchase?

its going to add a little weight since were adding something to the heli. but i dont think its going to make or break the heli. since the weight is very minimal. you will not need to buy anything else. the screws needed will be supplied with the hub. and of course you will need a raptor heli and a stock red pulley. LOL

Okay, I'm a little confused now. Does it still use the stock V2 auto hub? Is your part, along with the red pulley, a replacement for the V2's white gear only? A pic would help alleviate the confusion for me. Thanks!
cforcht,
Very nice work indeed. I can appreciate custom Raptor bling!
I apologize if this has been covered, but, what are you using for a fan shroud with your custom frame set?
Thanks, Ron

Sorry for the confusion, what ia am selling is the aluminum hub and the required hardware. you will need your stock red pulley to bolt onto the aluminum hub i provide. you will need to remove a little material from the ID of the red pulley so it fits loose on the auto clutch. an exacto knife works well or dremel tool. then bolt it to the aluminum hub you bought from me and reassemble it as usual. and enjoy an auto pulley that works like its supposed to.
the fan shroud is from a venture 30
What did it take to put the OS 60 in the R50? Do you offer a conversion kit?

well it took a bit of work i had to modify the fan to fit the bigger 60 shaft. and the front landing gear strut had to be relieved a little in the middle to make room for the longer head/case, not much though. had to turn the R60 tank around backwards so the fuel fittings werent hitting the bottom of the engine and make a cutom motor mount. other than that it was easy.
At this time i dont offer a conversion kit. to be honest i havent really considered it since i would have to buy all the parts and modify them to sell. because i dont think the consumer would be comfortable drilling out the fan and retapping it to the 60 size. because accuracy is important. then i also needed a modified socket to tighten the nut too.
Of course i could make a new fan and then the customer would only have to modify the landing gear strut.

Oh, okay...that's what I thought. That's a good piece you've got, but my problem is also that the V2 auto hub itself gets stuck a lot...the one way bearing locks up on the sleeve frequently. Would you have an easy fix for that also?

I would say if your hub itself it sticking you may need a new one or maybe one of these pulley adapters i just made. i have one that if i tighten the lower jesus bolt too tight it has a sticky spot. try loosening it up a 1/4 turn to see if it helps thats what i had to do on the one i have thats sticky in fact its the one i have on this heli thats pictured. the reason mine is sitcky is because when i tighten it too much it makes the inner hub of the auto hub go out of round and then it has a sticky spot. but i was happy to find that with this aluminum pulley adapter i made i can tighten the bolt up nice and tight like id prefer it to be and it doesnt make the inner hub go out of round since the aluminum hub i made wont let it.
Guys, I have one of the tail gear boxes on my Raptor 50. It went together perfect and all parts fit very well together. I would highly reccomend these products as replacement parts! Plus they look very cool at reasonable prices. :glasses2:
Keep up the good work :!:

I would like to see the Raptor 90 converted to a belt drive system.

well now thats a really good thought since there seems to be alot of tail gear failures on the R60/90. i will check into the belt issue. since i dont know if bando makes a belt that long with the poly material and kevlar strands. but i can find out.

Mayber there can be some type of hybrid as there are other 90 size helis that use belts aren't there?

I don't see the tail box fialures unless you run the gear mesh to tight. I've been flying big Raptors and watching a few close frineds flying them for over 2 years.
One of your blint tail boxes would be cool, but big Raptors have a great tail box already IMHO.

well the belts are very pricey unless you want to make a large order for them since they only make them as needed. so thats not real cost effective. sorry MHF.
also i have had several people asking how much the tail cases sell for so i figured it would be easier to just post it here. they sell for 55.00 USD shipped to your door. quantity discount is available if you want to buy more than one. thanks. Craig

Gee Iykist I thought maybe it would be something new. but nope the same old pic you have been posting over and over and over and over again. lets see something new for a change. I know Im not going to be posting any. Im pretty much out of making heli parts. just way too busy making commercial/industrial parts. of course they pay so much better too. so its hard to say no. what took so long? this thread is darn near 2 yrs old. anyway lets see what ya got brewing lately. I would be interested.
