just a general question for you raptor enthusiasts. what upgrades or mods would you like to see made for the R30/R50 helis? or changes to existing upgrades/mods.

I would like to find a set of carbon side frames for my raptor 50 v2. Everything else I want for I have already found.

You mean like this?

if youre looking to convert to CCPM then it appears scoty has the answer. since that looks like the xero-g kit but not sure since the pic isnt close enough to tell for sure. but if your not looking for ccpm then i have something you might be interested in. look in my gallery. these are aluminum but i can also make them in G10. im not going to make them in carbon simply for the cost factor because nobody wants to pay for the cost of the over priced carbon material which adds 100 bucks just because of the material. if youre interested let me know. :D

Hey,
Yeah, it's the XeroG carbon CCPM frame kit. You know what aftermarket part I would like that I can't find? A auto hub that does not lock up all the time. I've had two Raptors and, on one of them, the auto hub would get stuck all the time. The other one was fine. Could never figure out why. Anyway, I'd like to see an auto hub with bearings and, hopefully, get rid of that crappy white pulley that you have to sand to get to run smooth. Please let me know if you do one. And, I would be happy to do prototype testing if needed. :D

Scoty yeah i know what you mean. that white pulley sucks. i have one on my R50 that has the Os61 in it and it doesnt work that well either. i cant make any promises but i will look into it. because youre right it needs something better.

I saw cforcht's stuff at IRCHA. His aluminum parts I saw were KILLER on the Raptor. Very high on the Utility and Bling and Sweetness factors!! :)
He was parked right next to the HF Trailer. Nice meeting you guys.

All of my research has led me to believe that taller masks improve flight performance. I think a kit to make the mask an inch or so taller would be cool.

Where can I buy your products cforcht?
Is there any flight performance differences using your aluminium frame over stock TT plastic ones.

Hey Curt, I have seen Cforcht products in ACTION. I have seen the aftermath of a 40 mile per hour number 9 straight into the ground and it only bent the frames in one spot on the front leg about 3/16 of an inch ove to one side. I also have one of his tail cases too. I have to say they are AWESOME.
Chuck.

yes curt there is a difference. they dont break.LOL seriously though they are pretty much indestructible compared to the TT stuff. these frames are a tiny bit heavier but make up for it in durability. they do not affect flight performance in a bad way if thats what you want to know. i am going to offer the frames in G10 as well as aluminum. no im not going to offer carbon fiber, simply because the material is 100 bucks for enough to make a set of frames. thats before i do anyhthing to them at all. so its not very cost effective. unless of course someones willing to pay the extra material cost then i would make them. but it would be a custom order basis only.
the tail cases i make are pretty much bullet proof. i have not had a failure yet nor have i had a single complaint from any of the buyers that have purchased them from me. i even had one guy from Calif. email me to tell me he had driven his heli in tail first and inverted and it did no damage to the tail case whatsoever. but the rest of the heli suffered severe damage.
one of these days im gonna just poll everyone to see what the worst crash attitude would be on a heli going into the dirt. and then intentionally crash one in this attitude to see what breaks and what doesnt. well thats what ive been thinking of doing anyway. i just havent gotten to the point where im willing to sacrifice a heli to destructive testing.
if youd like to see more you can look at my gallery. http://www.helifreak.com/album_personal.php?user_id=994
right now the only place you can get these parts is directly from me. eventually they will be available commercially but i havent gotten all of the details of that worked out yet. but its coming soon i hope. thanks for the interest. Craig
also i have a plan for the white auto pulley. i just need to make the proto and test it to see if it works. i cant imagine it can be any worse then the TT pulley available now. :D

They look sweeeeeeet, perfect for a Newbie like me. Will definitely help reduce the damage from a dumb thumb Newb like myself. :glasses2:
I am definitely getting myself some of the frames and tail case.
Once I have my Heli account biult up a bit again.

What kind of money are we talking about here?
Where can I see a price list?
Does the fan shroud come with the frame?
I like the red frame. Do you make matching collective pitch arms and booms?

I would like to see someone make and market a Raptor Anti-Gravity device!

steve i think thats called flying. besides wouldnt it defeat the purpose of the main blades if there were such a device? unless of course you use it only in an emergency. which i probably should get to building one if thats the case. because i seem to have several emergencies lately especially when im inverted.
on a different note i made the prototype of the auto pulley. and tested it tonight, but only got one auto in before the thunder storms rolled in. it works well. alot better than the TT unit. and it uses the stock red pulley. i dont have a pic yet but will tomorrow.

curtis: in answer to your question on the taller mast. it would make it more stable in hover but i think it will decrease the agility in 3D flight since the CG will be much different. it can be done fairly easily. if youre still interested. the only items needed would be a longer main shaft, longer links, and longer A arms.

I've had 3 majors in the last 4 weeks and haven't even used 2 gallons. Maybe a little more than 2 but not much. One a figure 9 and 2 that seemed as if all contact between the tx and rx was lost.
I think they call them upgrade opportunities so I am converting both 30's to 50's now.
If this keeps up much longer, i'm going back to control line after 35 years away.

steve what are you using for a rx. fm or pcm? also what radio are you using? i had a few problems like that myself thats why i wound up making the tail cases. i got tired of buying them because i was breaking them from boom strikes while learning to fly. turned out the boom support ends from mavrikk needed to be jb welded or they make RFI while flying. caused 2 crashes before i found the problem.
these frame sets i make would decrease the amount of damage if you crash. i had a guy fly my raptor 50 and he did a number 9 at 40-50 mph when it hit and it only did 60 bucks of damage. you can imagine the horror as i watched him pile drive my heli in to the dirt. to be honest i didnt really want to look at it but the closer we got to ground zero the better it looked. hell it didnt even break the woodies that were on it. they were beat up but not broken. to say the least i was shocked.

JR 8103, PCM. When I got to last Saturdays carnage, the tail boom was up at about a 60º angle but the support tubes, tailcase, blades and tail shaft was not even hurt. The mainshaft was pushed down about an inch and a quarter, drove the centers out of both gears and somehow took every blade off of the fan, yet the spindle and mainshaft are not even bent and the FRP blades do not have a scratch on them. One broken frame side.
I saw your stuff at IRCHA. Impressive. Really nice work. Wasn't it $175 and $50? Do the tail boxes come in "colors"?
I really think my problems have something to do with my Stunt1 setup. Flies great in Normal mode and then all of the control dynamics are extremely different when I flip the switch. Going to have someone look at it when I get the rebuild done. Got other things to do for the next two weekends so it will be awhile.

dang man you really bashed it up good didnt you. cant say ive seen the gear centers pushed through before. or the fan destroyed either.
yes tha was the price at irhca kind of like the fuel guys. SHOW special. at this time no they are not colored because i havent had the time to get the anodizing process sorted out. my results are unpredictable at this point. so i cant offer them colored and feel comfortable with it. at least right now anyway.
if you look in my gallery you will see a few pics of the NO. 9 crash. the tail boom is bent on a couple places and the frames are plain aluminum colored. the crash pics with the frames red are the same frames only i had tried anodizing them and these turned out fair. anyway those crash pics were from it hitting a steel fence while i was trying my hand at inverted hover. i learned that if you get distracted while inverted it doesnt take long for your heli to get creamed. anyway it made for some neat pics if nothing else. that crash got ugly it took my pipe my new CF blades the boom, canopy, support rods, main shaft and spindle as well as a few rod ends and the flybar of course.
