For a glass canopy for a R30/50, take a look at the Stinger 30 canopy. Looks pretty good, not terribly expensive and should fit the R30/50 since just about everything else on the Stinger does. I thought about trying one myself as I would like to have a painted canopy.

Also, ole Irwin at Hobbies and Heli's had some at IRCHA that were decent. $40 white and $100 painted.

The Stinger Canopy from Gohbee is the way to go. Cheap and different (IMHO Better) looking than the Raptor FG.

THeir ad is on the main Index Page. :)

Thanks Steve, I was at IRCHA and it was AWESOME to say the least. Planning next years trip all ready. I actually bought 2 canopies from Irwin for $35 each, but wasnt about to pay $100 for painted ones. I plan on doing the painting myself, as I have some experience in the field. I worked at a Dupont jobber store in Iowa for 10 years. I am looking for some quantity discounts so I can bring the final price down. Still looking for a good deal.

Thanks again, Chuck.

Hey Lman,

I myself dont really like the raptor canopy from zooms. It just looks too blunt for me, I want something more streamlined. But if others like them thats what counts.

i paint canopies and the zooms raptor can. holds the base coat on better than any other canopy i have tried, very easy to work with, its a thick fiberglass and holds up in crashes well. they look good on the machine and you cant bend them around the back grommets like most canopies....very sturdy canopy.

trust me on this, you want find a better canopy to paint, no holes to be filled no scratchs , dings or anything

I like the Gohbee canopy and the style That Irwin was selling at IRCHA. I dont really care for the Zooms canopy. What does everybody else think. Thanks, Chuck.

I like them both the style . I have never seen a Stinger other than on the internet. I have seen a Zooms canopy and it looked good to me. but like you say to each there own. I have just one question why ask the question you asked if you all ready knew what you wanted??

IRCHA only comes once a year. Besides, there is almost always a better deal out there, you just have to find it.

i think hamm128 was just looking to see what was available for the raptor style vs price. then once the style he likes is chosen then price is the key then. but there is also the public opinion of what is the most popular among raptor owners. at least if hes planning on painting them to sell.

That's great I seen a Stinger canopy on RR the other day it looks good.
If you are going to buy them to paint and sell why not offer both types . This way you have more to offer.
Hamm128 well good luck we can always use more options on where to go for painted canopies. :D

Here is the link to the Stinger canopy:

http://www.gohbee.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=40103&Category_Code=

The canopy is very light and is made of fiberglass (nice to paint) and is only $29.99.

That is pretty nice. It is simple but very nice. I will say this, from experience, the clear coat can make or break your final look.

Hopefully this weekend, or next week I will get some time to paint. I have too many things to do and too little time. I think I will have to stop sleeping. I am almost there as it is. I have to pick up some more white basecoat and some other stuff. Pics soon.....

Ok, after dragging my feet for too long and taking some of the other irons out of the fire, I finally took 3 hours out of my time and finally painted one of my fiberglass canopy's. Now keep in mind that I didn't spend too much time on it, and it was a seat of the pants creation. Like I said, it took about 3 hours to scuff sand , tape off for 4 different colors, tack time, and to clear coat it.

Thanks, Chuck.
