I will be looking into a used Raptor with a OS50 hyper. I don't have experience in nitros and was wondering what so I look for in a used engine?

I would look for good compression mine is new ish about 3 gallons and I have been looking after it never ran lean and using the starting connector using just my forefiner and thumb i can just about turn the engine over with a glow on etc. Also check what fuel it has been ran on. If possible ask him 2 start it and hover it look for good smoke and no funny noises.
remember its all about having fun and a raptor 50 with a 50 hyper is a great big boys toy

obviously compression, if out of the model without a muffler, look for scratches on the piston as viewed through the exhaust port.
if it's in the model, and you can see it fly, do so. If not and you have to make a descision, parts are not that expensive. Bearings are the most common wear item, set you back >$40 and an hour or so to change.

If you have no glow experience (I hate the term "nitro") you will be well served by having someone with experience with these engines check it out for you. You will also need some help getting the engine tuned for flight.
