I'm thinking about getting a Futaba 9 CHPS Synthesized Tx/Rx 72 MHz (LXJDF9). Any comments from you experienced pilots about this transmitter would be appreciated.

9C is a good radio.

The synth module consumes more power than the standard crystal based module, if you go with that radio, and its an EXCELLENT choice, goto http://www.hangtimes.com and get a high capacity transmitter pack from thier NO BS Batteries selection.

Thanks for the comments. The radio is on it's way. I'll look into that suggested battery also. The next decision is the TRex 450 SE or TRex 600. In the meantime, I hope I can figure out how to set the radio up to fly my Blade CP and Blade CP Pro.

If you get the synth mod & worry about battery consumption I poked a 3 cell 2100 T.P.pro lite in mine & it works great! Its a little tight but a small piece of ribbon in the compartment first gives you a pigtail to pull the pack out when it needs charging. Full charged voltage is around 12.6 volts & there seems to be no problems. I've put about 3 hours on the Tx in the past week & I'm still around 11.9 volts & no need to even worry till around 11.1 & at that theres still probably enough for quiet a bit of flying. The benifits are a 1 hr charge time & once its charged it dosent loose energy like the NiCd or NiMh so it can set for a while & still be charged up. Went with LiPos & regulators on the Rx. packs as well & this works great especially at events where the last thing you want to do is set around wating for a pack to charge.

Oh yea the 9C is a great Tx!
