this is a gv-1 on a raptor 50 with os hyper....gear ratio is set for 8.5 rot.... the engine has has about 3 gallons in it and runs like a top..we instaled the gv-1 and sensor reading is 97 percent....radio is a 9CHP ...EVERTHING is set to the book...less than 1000 in normal mode and 1900 in idle up1 and 2...the problem is the govenor says it max head speed is 2090 but when we tach the headspeed its more around 1700...why would the gv-1 read a max head speed when the actual is way slow...with the heli on the ground and in idle up i switch to the govenor page and begin to up the percent in the radio and the govenor responds by reving high but i am at 100 percent in the radio and the govenor still saying max rpm is 2090 when the tachometer says its more around 1700 and i have the goven set to 2000...why wont the gv-1 bring the headspeed up to match my settings?????..tryed what seams to be everthing ..any help would be great...thanks and happy thanksgiving

during fast descents, the rotor will become unloaded and the actual RPM will read higher.
Start, hover and check with your tach. Land and compare the highest HS to the tach reading.
Check the governor's operation by climbing and doing a fast descent while level. The throttle should close to prevent overspeed and will be evidenced by the smoke trail diminishing when the throttle closes.
The rappy ratio may be a little off, ie: not a true 8.5 also, so the disparity between tach and gv1 may be the result.
You can try changing ratios, but increasing the max value a bit until the tach and the GV1 meet your desired HS is also an option.
is there a chance you are a bit rich?

Any chance its a Titan with the optional ratio? The stock Raptor gearing is 8.5 its pretty simple, a 10 tooth pinion and a 85 tooth main.

no ..the gv-1 is working great ....no overspeeding in a desent and the 8.5 is the corect gear ratio.....the actral head speed in a hover does not match what i have the gv-1 set for.....its like the gv-1 is not calibrated right...2000 in the gv-1 is more like 1700 actual...//helppppppppp

ok do you program the Gv-1 on the radio or the box itself?

program from the radio...9chp starts out at 0% for 1000rpm , 50% for 1500rpm, and 100% for 2000rpm .........adjusting the percent makes the headspeed increase but even at 100% the headspeed is still low and around 1700..

did you plug in the plug for the adjustment for the radio to the reciever?

yes....i said in the last post that when i increase the percent it does increase the headspeed !!

ok. I know mine is a little bit off like around 50 to 100 rpm, maybe your throttle vurve is to low, remeber the GV-1 turns on at i think 70% throttle so fly around then hit it on, or increase you idle up curve to 70 at mid stick. Or your motor may be too rich but i doubt it.

Whoa, the GV1 turns on at 70 percent of the target RPM, not 70 percent throttle.

my gv-1 is set to stay on all the time untill i hit throtle hold...that turns it off completely.....in normal mode i have it set for 1000 witch keeps it off witch is O%percent in the radio govenor page...now when i am hovering i hit idle 1..this brings the radio govenor page to 85% and the gv-1 reads 1850rpm... but the head speed is not 1850 ..its more like 1600...Now if in my radio govenor page i begin to turn the 85 percent up the headspeed starts to rise but even at 100 percent in the radio the actual head speed is still really low...at 100% in the radio govenor page the gv-1 reads 2000rpm....thats what i am saying...it is working its just not giveing me the headspeed i am calling for..even at max 100% in the radio...its actual headspeed is around 1700 but the gv-1 says its asking for 2000....i have leaned the engine to the point i hardly get smoke...and the gv-1 acts the same way.. :arggg:

try doing the headspeed on the governor its self.
