Yeah...always watching for options. I am especially tuned in now that I am participating in building a lipoly battery plant in my home town!!! Just came back from the site formerly known as Kokam American and have a line on batteries which I will be supplied (kind of like my first sponsor!). No 6S5000's unfortunately since Kokam is exiting the hobby in favor of making lipos for bigger heli's (ie, Apache!!!)

I am not holding my breath for nano-tech. Can't charge more than 2C on a 10 amp charger anyway. I am of the "wait and see" perspective.

Perhaps.. but it is cheaper.. I am waiting too..

I hope this is the new standard

BTW charging our 6c 5amp packs is 1C max on 10amp charger

I've honestly never tried to charge at more than 5 amps on these 5000 mah packs. I presume I will run out of charger watts capacity before I could get to 2C. I believe, if I understand correctly, that at ~22 volts x 5 amps = 110 watts. With a mere 150 watt charger, I believe that means, I could push it to 150/22 = ~6.8 amps (give or take). I guess that works out to about 6.8/5 = around 1.3C. Not enough nads.

I would like to see some better packs closer to home. The last shipment from HC left me very disappointed.

also to boot most of the cheaper charges max out at 5 amps

As an experiment, I went out to my charger last night and increased the amps on a pack that needed a charge to see where it would max out. The charger is a 10 amp model. It gradually ramped up and stopped at about 6.9 amps. I was amazed.

Hey Vikas - I apologize for hijacking your original post dude.

It depends on the output wattage of the charger. If the charger can provide 250W, then it can charge 6S 5000mAh packs at 2C.

incorrect.. there is a max amp setting with the charger too.. 500watt with a 10 amp port will not charge more than 1c on said packs

I'm not sure what charger you are talking about. A 500W charger with 10A output current can charge a 6S 5000mAh battery at 2C if the power supply is up to the task.

10A * 25.2V = 252W
10A is 2C for a 5000mAh battery

If you set the max output current of the port to less than 10A, then of course it won't charge at 2C.

... if the power supply is up to the task.

.

That is a BIG if. If you put a 350 watt charger on a 250 watt power supply, you have to be REAL careful not to ask for more than 250 watts from the PS. Otherwise, you'll be looking for the fuse at best, or maybe a new power supply.

lately to keep my charger going its a pain i know i use my 2500 dodge it has 2 batts
and keep a 15a charger to keep the juice going so far i havent killed either of the battery yet not saying its right to do it like this just working for me i wish i had a big power supply to charge something that big

+1. I got a 250w charger recently and now charge my 6s 5000mah packs at 10amps for 2c. Works fine. Pulls about 25 amps at 15v from my power supply for the majority of the charge.

Back on topic: I got 3 of the Voltz packs and so far they are great but I only have 1 flight on each of them. They fit in the battery tray much better than Turnigys or Zippies.

Even bigger IF is people actually knowing what they are doing ;)

The Voltz pack is a nice option...being able to order from Readyheli is a major incentive for me...they are great. If I hadn't just acquired a pair of Hyperion CX's, I'd jump on them. I wonder what their stock level will be...no one seems to keep value-priced 6S5000's around at all.

Sounds like HK will be shipping all their lipos from the US when their warehouse is done. Cheap fast shipping! That will end a lot of issues.
