Yup. Flew my R50, successfully, no damage or disaster. Got it back in the shop and was cleaning it when I heard something rattle in the canopy. Took the canopy off and found 2 rather long, small diameter screws rolling around in the bottom of the canopy. Where did these bad-boys come from?
Upon inspection of the whole front end of the heli I found that the screws had come from the collective servo, which happened to be a 95732 Airtronics coreless. Looking closer I found that the two remaining screws holding the servo case together were completely loose and able to fall out if the heli were tipped the right way! So nothing was holding the collective servo together on my precious Raptor other than friction.
The holes in the servo case cover were completely stripped.
I didn't want to try a repair and then trust it in the air so I broke down and bought a Futaba 9252 digital to put back in it's place. I was very fortunate to have found the servo before a major crash. But I also feel fortunate to have the 9252 in there. What a difference! The other two swashplate servos are still the Airtronics 732's, but adding the digital on collective has made a new machine of the Raptor! I also added a NiMh receiver battery at the same time for longer flight life.
I'm looking forward to affording 2 more 9252's and making my Raptor all digital! (Well, except for the throttle.....)
All the best,
Chumpy
