View Full Version : Where to now?

Hi,

I've been working hard to get to where I am now with flying, but I feel I've hit a goal and failed to prepare the next one. So my drive is slipping.

I had got FFF down doing fast 8s right up until I could give it full collective round the corner.

Then I tried a flip and when I got a working heli again, :) I tried again with the idle up switch on. Well actually tried a loop first.... It went over straighter and rounder than I do them in the sim! Heli a little slow on cyclic, but rolls worked, loops worked, back flips worked, forward flips worked, aileron flips barely worked. Taking the paddle weights off now.

Thing is, compared to the sim the real world feels a lot more random and the heli is of course not infinitely well set up and infinitely reliable and not the top of the line gear, like the sim. So I still have my heart in my mouth when I do a loop or roll.... though my legs have stopped shaking now. I see the tail slip even 10 degrees during a flip and I near panic.

I'm thinking where next? Cuban 8s or at least half Cuban 8s (imanuel turn?).

Hovering nose in... I can do, but my current heli is a little 'figgity' in the hover and I bail out after 20 or 30 seconds usually. Inverted hover... No, not yet, not until I get a solid head in the air again.

Any thoughts?

Paul

How about just flying around and have fun? Put some of your tricks together. Get very comfortable with what you can already do.

Have fun, maybe don't try anything new until you have no shakes doing what you have already done.

Nobody said you have to do new moves. Sounds like it time you enjoy what you can do. Your skills will better with every flight. Tell yourself for the next month or two your just going to enjoy your flights.

Just my $0.02,
