This 500 is a lovely bird I must say. That being said, I have only one battery because my funds are tapped out as of now so I try alot of things to reduce time in between flights. My question is, is it ok to put the battery in the fridge for 10/15 min or so to get a head start on cooling it before the next charge?

You dont want to do that, when you hear people put them in the fridge they put them in there in a zip lock back, then when take them out you have to let them get room temp before removing them. What brand of battery are you flying?
most to not need to cool down before you charge they cool off while your charging them.

Just put it in front of a fan for 10 minutes, I like to let my packs sit for 10 minutes between charges. What was the price on that battery anyway? Time for 2 of these and then your good to go for a while. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10300&Product_Name=Turnigy_3000mAh_6S_40C_Lipo_Pack

how hot does it get? unless its over 125 I would not worry, as long your not charging it over 3C just charge it, it get cooler, its a Good battery, now with the cheapo's I would not but your good with that. if your charging at 5C let it get to about 100 degrees before you recharge it.

I don't think it gets over 125, it's 5c rated but I'm only charging it at 4 amps cause that's all my charger can do. Thanks guys.

Well it be fine then, we charge them up to 125 degrees at 5 c all the time, like said hyperion, thunder power, they can handle it, now zippy, flightmax, other cheapo's no way would. just try to keep it out of the sun while your charging.
