OK I am new at this so if this has been brought up bare with me. Can you use a 11.1v lipo battery in a JR 9303 TX? Without haveing to use any kind of voltage regulator? I know that a 9.6v reads 11.1v at first and I don't know what an 11.1v lipo reads at when it is fully charged. Thank you very one for all of your help and support.

You can, and it will work. The trick is getting two separate things.. 1.) it has to fit the case, 2.) you have to get the battery connector.
While you can scrounge a connector off the original pack, finding one to fit inside the compartment is near impossible.
Duralite makes a Li-Ion (round cell) out of 6 (3S2P) cells to form a stick the same length as your stock battery, but triangular instead of square.
save some heartache and pony up for the duralite battery and charger, it works very, very well on the 9303. Four days of flying on a charge is not unusual for me.

I see what your talking about I just did some mesuring
20C MaxAmps Lipoly 3000HV 3S 11.1V Pack
44mm X 137mm X 17mm
Jr tx battery
28.36mmx102mmx28.36
may I ask what pack you got for duralite? Also I have the Duratrax ICE charger on the way. Would this charge that battery? Also would I just be better off getting a 2000mah 2500mah or a 3000mah NiCd? I saw that the connector was very small. I am also thinking about going Lipo wiht my RX battery. I have a raptor Titan, is the only thing I need is a BCE so that my gyro will run at 4.8v? Thank you for your reply.

Alright I have a nother question. Why cant I get 8 Durcell Rechargeables 2500mah and make a battery pack for them? Wouldn't that be cheap 2500mah I am thinking 5x longer than my stock 600mah? What are the pros and cons? Thank you Cliff

There are people making Lipo Tx packs that fit. Someone was having a weekend sale on them over in RC Groups.

Also thee are 2000 - 2700 mAH NiHM packs.

Interesting thing, a standard JST connector will fit the 9303. Discount Hobby Warehouse in San Diego has a 2700 pack that will fit and a adapter that will go from the servo plug on the pack to JST. Ask for Brain, he hangs out here and can set you up.

for the JST connector, there is no keyed means to assure the polarity is correct. If you can afford to risk a few hundred bucks by playing russian roullette connecting the battery, you can afford the duralite package.
I would most definately stay away from the 'consumer' level batteries like duracell or energizer rechargables as they have no solder tabs, and the length of the cells is a bit longer if memory serves.
just increasing the capacity of the cells alone is half the battle, you need to consider how you will charge the pack. Fast charging a cell, any cell repeatedly is not condusive to long life.
the Duralite package, while initially expensive, is well worth the peace of mind. Plug and forget charging, high capacity and all the components are made to fit your brand of radio without jury rigging.

THank you Pinecone and Thank you WayneBroen.

WayneBrown, you seem to have a good bit of the answers to my questions.I really do appreciate it. I see that you live in Augusta, I use to go to the boat races there and well I kind of got out of that since my boat was stolen (a very sad dayfor me). May I ask where you fly? I live here in Columbia SC and I am going to try and fly out at Fort Jackson and love the people there. Very Nice group of guys. Not to many Helis but some very nice planes. I like that fury that you are holding up. Thanks again.

I used to be involved in boat racing too, small world.
I fly in Blythe at a small privately owned field, it's roughly 1 hour from Columbia.
Marcus Kim flies at Fort Jackson I believe, he can give you all the local help you need, just ask him.
I'll be on a two week rotation home schedule, my next trip home is the weekend of December 8th if You'd like to get together, let me know.
Trust me, I looked at a DIY solution to the battery problem once a few years ago, and decided it was best to let someone else engineer it and be the lab rat.
The cost of a DuraLite system far outweighs the cost of a home-built system's failure and potential property damage and/or personal injury.
Besides, it's almost fool-proof! :D

Sounds Great. I just became a member of Fort jackson and Marcus was out there Saturday and he helped me start setting it up then we ran across a problem in the tail area and I went home and fixed it. Now for just a little more setting up and then hovering with a heli pilot and then and then and then I might be able to fly with out anyone holding my hand. I have about 200 hours in G3 and love it. I wish I could get a smaller controller to use at work. Ha ha ha. You are right about home bulit. I love to DIY but when it comes to someones else getting hurt I try and shy clear. Drop me a pm or email and see how I have progressed when you get back.

Hmm, I will have to visit sometime when I am down there. I get to the Augusta area every so often for follow up. A few years ago I spent 3 months in the Robert Still Burn Center.

Yeah, JST is not polarized. From the guys at Discount Hobby Warehouse plugging it in wrong will blow the fuse, only. But red to the right when looking into the battery compartment.

Thank you Wayne, I just hope that I can keep it in one piece to be able to fly with others. I think that I just need to go ahead and get another kit just to put under the bed. Maybe that way I want have the pucker factor as bad. So far I am really likeing the people that are in to RC flying either planes or helis. I have been into many hobbies and well some have butts and some dont have anyone but I do like the Jackson Flyers Great group of guys and there are some other fields that I would liek to joine, but paying for 3 fields all of the crashes I am looking foward to is going to cost a good bit but I feel like it is all worth it.

I wish I could get the local tri county fields together and maybe have one flat price for all 3 or 4 around here. they are I think from 50 to 80 or right at 80. I was thinking of something like 120 for 4 fields and giving 30 each. I wonder if 4 clubs would like to have 200 members or 75 here 35 there 55 here and you know just get everyone together 4 times a year and have 4 different flying with 4 different themes. I am just talking Well I am off to G3 and try to learn me something. Joking around and no I do not talk like that.

FWIW: Our dues are $25 a year. Helis HAVE taken over as the majority, with only a few (1-3) plankers showing up after 2PM on Sundays.
There is one guy that shows up with both, and he buzzes around with a plank some anytime he shows up. We razz him about it, but he's good natured about it, and even lets me have stick time too.
With a few more guys we can have a great place to fly, right now the scrub brush has gotten a good foothold on the far side of the runway, but it's only 10-12 ft tall so poses no real hazard.
Unfortunately the other guys feel that they can't fly if I'm not there even though they can do just fine alone. Almost makes me feel guilty for being gone, but I gotta work to play.
I don't have the skills of Marcus, H to the C, Clint, Eric or Matt, but I know how to get one in the air and keep it going.
Any weekend I'm home is fair game, and if you PM or call for directions, you can consider it an open invitation.
