Sorry for the delay on getting this build done but the holidays got in the way. Lesson learned to me is to NOT do this over the December holidays ever again :)
Anyway new vid is up: Installing the tail assmebly to the frames.
We are almost there now and I plan to finish up tomorrow (Friday 1/5)!
Bob
Bummer, got my popcorn, favorite beverage, ready to watch a vid and file does not exsist. :(

On those large ball links for the flybar, I used the old pliers trick and gav'em a squeeze lightly, tried'em, squeezed'em again until they were loose. Worked very well. Mine were very tight when I put them on. Now they flop around. I was going to use tooth paste, but this was much quicker.
If you squeeze them too hard, you risk destroying the ball link. I know that most of you already know this trick as well, but some new guys/gals might not.

OK so here is the place the Logo 14 build videos will be!
This will include all build vids, later upgrades, test flying vids, etc!
So you know I have already built one of these for Will James and it was an AWESOME heli... Now I am building one for myself and as always I will make build vids as I always do :)
So here we go.....
Kit overview of part bags & manual
VIDEO -> Logo 14 kit overview of part bags and manual (20 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/logo14&filename=overview.wmv)
Preping the frames which I think is very important!
VIDEO -> Preping the Logo frames (29 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/logo14&filename=frameprep.wmv)
The frames (step 1) will be in two parts as this is a lot to cover!
Building the frames PART 1
VIDEO -> Building the frames PART 1 (56 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/logo14&filename=framesp1.wmv)
Building the frames PART 2
VIDEO -> Building the frames PART 2 (56 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/logo14&filename=framesp2.wmv)
Landing Gear. Nothing fancy here and pretty basic so skip it if you dont need to see it :)
VIDEO -> Landing gear assembly (14 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/logo14&filename=lgear.wmv)
Main gears and main shaft... Some good info here I think!
VIDEO -> Main Gears and Main Shaft Assemebly (60 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/logo14&filename=maingears.wmv)
Tail Case Assembly
VIDEO -> Tail Case Assemebly (30 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/logo14&filename=tailcase.wmv)
Tail Pitch Slider Assembly

Tail Drive Assembly
VIDEO -> Tail Hub Assemebly (50 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/logo14&filename=taildrive.wmv)
I am jumping around a bit in the manual for video reasons and build reasons.
Servo install
VIDEO ->Installing servos - S9650's (70 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/logo14&filename=servo_install.wmv)
Swash Plate and Washout. Note: make sure your washout is NOT too tight on the main shaft!
VIDEO ->Swash Plate anmd Washout (40 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/logo14&filename=washout.wmv)
Lots to cover in the head so it will be in 2 or maybe 3 parts
The Head Part 1 - Head and blade grips
VIDEO ->Main head and Grips (50 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless/logo14&filename=headgrips.wmv)

Yea due to a cold all last week and loosing an employee at my real job I have not been able to get that very last vid out (gyro/tail servo setup) But if you want to move forward use my Trex600 gyro setup as it will be pretty much the same!
Anyway it should be soon!

Hi Bob,
Man, I just love the Logo 14 build videos. That's a phenomenal piece of work. As my Logo 10 deluxe kit is in the mail, your videos are just the ticket.
I do have a couple of questions, if you don't mind: First, you mention grease for the thrust bearings. Have you a recommendation? Lithium grease, std automotive grease?
Second, I'm familiar with Red and Blue Locktite. Blue you use if you need to get the screw out later, but Red is forever. Which did you use during your 14 build? BTW, I never knew that Blue will attack plastic. Great tip.
Third, do you use CA as 'locktite' when you have plastic against metal?
Finally, what oil to you recommend? Do you lube the bearings or are they sealed? I find light motor oil, 5W-30, to be great for metal on metal, but I don't know about its use for metal against plastic. Have you a comment?
Thanks again for a great job.

Yes white lithium grease is what I use and a light machine oil for things like where the swash plate runs ont he main shaft or the tail pitch slider.
I do not use red locktite anywhere on the logo there is no need. I do use CA for small screw that go into plastic link balls and such.
ENjoy,
Bob

Thanks SOO much, Bob for the build videos!., You've been instrumental in getting all my 450's set up perfect(7 birds of all versions)., I've learned so much more than through time or instruction manuals..., wow.., you ARE the most important reference on all things heli for me.., thank you thank you!
Quick question on the Logo 14(just finished my build)., Motor is Hacker C50 XL10, ESC is Hacker Spin Master 77 Opto.., using Ultimate BEC-HV to avoid extra lipo., I'm having trouble getting the esc-motor to initialize.., there's an extra lead from the esc(red connector.,3 wires) Does that plug into an on/off switch? I clipped the red wire from the esc/rx like I was told., now NOTHING from the motor/esc., But rx and servos all functional.., ??
Thanks in advance for your help..

You sure you clipped the correct wire from the ESC? What colors are the wires on the ESC lead? red, black, and white?? or Red, brown, and orange?
Either way it should have been the center wire on the ESC connector you pulled.

Yes.., I cut the right wire(red/center).., the lead to the rx from the esc.., Helihobby people told me this new ESC(Hacker 77 Opto) needs an on/off switch.., on the second lead(3 wires) from the esc.., however.., they didn't sound too sure. So we'll see.,
I did EVERYTHING according to the book on this., and I know that I'm on the right track.,
My next issue(probably not too bad) will be getting the 611 dialed in., always used 401.
So I may call upon you again if you don't mind., I think your Logo14 video segment on tail/gyro will guide me just fine even though your using 601..
Man., thanks so much in advance for the help.., BTW., I've rebuilt a few birds based on your videos with great results!:)
Anyway., I'll get a couple more steps into the ESC thing and report news., good or otherwise.,
Chad Douglas

Looks like the ESC requires an on/off switch.., according to the techs at Helihobby. I'll try that and see what happens..,

OH.., I've got 7 TREX 450's., built them all with your help..., so forgive my deficit in other brands..., BUT.., on the LOGO., I've got a Hacker C50 10XL., the motor shaft is real short.., the pinion position is concerning., is there a way to remedy? ..,aside from getting another motor., ? I like what I hear about this motor ., is there a mod or upgrade shaft option?
Thanks..
Finless

Does that motor need the spacer disk adapter? If so you might see if you can find a way to mount it without that.
Bob
Chad Douglas
01-02-2008, 04:18 PM
No it doesn't need the spacer.., which is good news.., but STILL very short for the gear., don't want to put pinion hanging off the shaft..
Finless
01-02-2008, 04:39 PM
Take the full length of the pinion and lets say that is 30mm.... If the shaft is at least 1/2 up into the pinion or close to that then I would say your OK. Remember Mikado pinions are steel!

Cool.., that's what Hacker just said..., thanks, Bob. I was just a little nervous about placement....
