i got hte screen protectors today, I applied one as directed, had some airbubbles, but one questions i have is..
is the protector part the soft flexible half, or is it the more stiff half that feels "sticky" on the one side.
I hope that I make sense, but there are two halfs, one side is lighter and thinner, the other is thicker with a "stickier" side....
I hope that I didn't put the wong one on...

twohsieh,
I'm glad to hear you got your Screen Protectors OK.
The Protector part is the somewhat thicker, somewhat sticky part. As I mentioned in an earlier post, there isn't an "adhesive" on the pack like you would find on cellophane tape... You would NOT want a "sticky" film.
As for airbubbles... The film can be lifted and laid back down many times. I would suggest using a piece of masking tape to lift one side of the film and slowly lay it back down. Then do the same for the other half of the film. If a bubble starts to form as the tapes lays back down, touch the film on the bubble. As long as you don't touch the back of the film (and get finger prints on it) or get dust on the back of the film you can lift and lay the film back down as many times as you'd like.
If all else fails, we do send two in an order along with a few scraps to play with.
Let me know if I can help,
Bill Vail

Dan,
We hope to make Screen Protectors for any Transmitter where there there is a need. We are getting a lot of request for the 9303 and it is at the top of the list (along with the 12MZ)
Chuck and I fly in a pretty small club. The precess of designing a new Screen Protector involves several tests to get the fit just right over the course of a week or two. Right now no one we know flies a 9303. :arggg: :?
I'm beginning to believe that part of our business plan will have to include buying the transmitters we are interested in, measuring them, and then reselling them for a small loss in an unused near new condition.
Right now we are working at bringing the 9C and 9Z Screen Protectors on line. We are also looking at designing a less time consuming press and I just got a WEB page up. When we have a few more products in our catalog, we'd like to look at some advertising.
So many things to be done... so little time.

Awesome. Please post in the JR forum when available.
As for buying radios and selling at a loss, why not see if you can team with a hobby shop and just use the radio as a template. Does not even leave to leave the shop? Just a thought.........

Dan... We think alike. We've been considering that.
The catch is that with the advent of mail order, it's hard to ask any hobby dealer to stock top line radio's and those are the radios with the largest screens and radios we are most interested in producing screen protectors for. The local hobby dealer is a close friend of mine. I wouldn't ask him to put a 12MZ, 14MZ, 10X and 9303 in the case. I don't think the cost would be justified for a hobby shop in the market we live in; however, I may ask him if he'd like to sell them to me at dealer cost. It would up his sales numbers with the distributors for radio's that are unlikely sales in Meridian MS, allow me to measure the screens, and we'd be able to offer a new radio as a great opportunity to a HeilFREAK member. Just thinking out loud.... It may take a little time to follow though with.

But unless your sales in protectors make up the loss you'll make on the radio sales your on a no win situation

That reminds me of the joke...
Two fellas fill a truck with 100 watermelons they bought for $1.00 each.
They go to the county fair and sell all their watermelons for $1.00 each.
They were feeling good about their brisk sales until they added up the days earnings and found they hadn't made a penny.
One fella scratched his head looked at the other and said "you know what this means don't you?"
The other fella says "yea... we need a bigger truck!"
This could be something of the same thing. I need to convince myself we can recoup the investment to produce any given Screen Protector.
I don't mind if we never make much on these but the wife will be peeved if I "invest" all our vacation money until it's gone.

Another note... I put together a website... http://rcscreenprotectors.com/index.htm
Keep in mind I'm NOT a website designer! I enjoyed the learning process but please understand it's under construction! Chuck is a GREAT production engineer and modeler. I've been flying for 40 years and am handy with a model. Neither of us has designed a website! :D
In setting up the website I set up a separate PayPal account. In the future please send PayPal to: support-sales@rcscreenprotectors.com The old PayPal account works and you can use that if you'd like but it's easier for me if you use the new one.
Positive input is always welcome.

Mine arrived in the post today :D It only took 3 weeks to get across the pondHmmm... (ONLY!)3 weeks.... That's disappointing. Is that how long most things take to get to the UK? Should I tell others to expect the same or did this one get stuck in customs somewhere?
Some to the Netherlands are getting there in less than a week. Yours were dropped in the mail 5 Dec.
Most shipped to the US are getting there in 3 days. 3 weeks... Hmmm... :?

Theres no other markings to say it got stuck other than the Meridian franks at source. When I ordered an LMH Heli it took about 6 weeks to arrive from the US
Stuff from Cyberheli (Hong Kong) took three days :WOW so maybe it did get stuck somewhere
On another note I'm glad there are two in the package as the first one was an unintentional practice :arggg:

Nothing yet. Today we updated the WEB page with the new 9Z and 9C Screen Protectors. We really need to get these going first since we have already invested in dies for these screens.
9C is an example of what we will be producing for the 12MZ. We will be designing a Screen Protector that covers as much of the screen as possible. It also may give some insight as to why we really need to hold a transmitter for more than a few moments to get the measurements just right. Chuck does some wonderful CAD drawings to get the dimensions perfect before we have dies made. We are still looking at having to buy a 12MZ to make Screen Protectors. http://www.rcscreenprotectors.com/index_files/Page635.htm
Now that the new year is here and the 9Z/Cs are ready, we can talk about the "next" transmitter to be added to the list. :D
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Bill Vail
Hello,
What do you need to make the screen protector for the 12MZ ? Dimensions, positions and size of buttons ? etc .... ? I have a T12 and can probably help.
Thanks for your initiative, I think there is a need for a screen protector to everyone who is taking care of his equipment. And compared to the price of the radio and the reselling value, the price of the screen protector is almost nothing.

Oliver... Wow. I should have replies to this sooner. I've gotten caught up in the holidays.
In addition to the holidays, we've been working really hard at getting a few new transmitters on line. The Futaba 9Z and 9C are done and we will be adding the JR 9303, 7202/6102/DX7 (they are all the same) and the Futaba 12MZ added very soon.
We have found a way to add new Screen Protectors without having to buy the transmitters. We need all the information you mentioned above. We need engineering drawing and a DXF file to send to our die makers that make our dies. I really appreciate your offer to help. Chuck and I discussed it and since our reputation and modelers satisfaction depends on the fit of our Screen Protectors, we are not ready to loose control of the engineering portion of production. Finding a balance in a Screen Protector that is large enough to do the job and yet not so large that it is difficult to apply, is quite difficult. As little as a 1/64 of an inch makes all the difference. We've already had to scrap dies we've produced because they were fractionally over sized and, in our opinion, just to close a fit. Again, thanks for your offer of help.

Olivier,
Thanks for your time and effort! I got the E-Mail and it looks super.
The timing is curious since we formalized the drawings for the 12MZ earlier this week and ordered the dies yesterday. Go figure! http://www.rcscreenprotectors.com/index_files/Page684.htm
In fact, we ordered dies for the 12MZ, 9303 and DX7/7202/6102 yesterday. They should be in next week. It will take us a day to confirm we are happy with the fit and then out the door they go.
I will post here and on the WEB site when they are available. By the way, I've spent some time working on the WEB site. I think it's better but comments are always welcome.
Anyone want to make a Logo for RCScreenProtectors? I gotta fix that still. It would help if Chuck and I were more artistically inclined. :? :) (that's artistic and autistic!)
Again, thanks for your considerable effort.

Olivier,
Hey thanks for the feed back! We spent a lot of time on that screen and with your help, I'm very proud of how it turned out. The screen on the 12MZ is really spectacular and we wanted a protector to match.
Thanks,
Bill Vail
