It has been lying in peaceful serenity for the last 4+ years…
But Giants like this can not lay in rest and they need to rise back up……
As such,
The Hoosier Heli Rumble will be resurrected this year and promises to be an exciting event and the beginning of an annual tradition. We will be flying at the Home of the Lafayette Cloud Jockeys, the same field where we were easily able to accommodate over 75 pilots during past events.
However, should Mother Nature pay us a visit in early July (ala Summer 03) we already have a backup field if needed. (Those of you know what I am talking about <G>)
SO mark you calendars for this 3 day event - July 13, 14, and 15th 2007 in Lafayette Indiana (60 miles NE of Indianapolis).
More information will follow, including hotels, websites, etc but feel free to PM/Email with any questions.

All,
I have started a website for the event:
http://www.rchelipilot.com/HHR.html
It has some basic information including a few area hotels and directions to the field. I will be updating the website with more information over the next month.
Hope to see you all there.

I know many are close to here now at the Nats.... you all might as well hang around a day at Muncie and come over to this fun fly!
I plan on going for the weekend. Using up my Hilton bonus points to stay at the Garden so it's gonna be a free weekend stay for me :)

Fellow Heli Pilots,
First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who attended the 2007 Hoosier Heli Rumble. I hope you have all recovered from the weekend; it took me about a day to recover and get back up to speed. I think we have definitely rekindled the spirit of this event and laid the foundation for future RUMBLES!!
We had 40 registered pilots and at least 150 spectators over the three days. There was a continual buzz of activity and flying all three days. Once we started on Friday morning it did not end until Sunday at 6 pm.
As I looked down the flightline on Mid Saturday afternoon, I was pleased to see that all 5 PILOT stations were being used. CHECK and MATE. I had reached my goal of making this a Pilots Funfly, where the focus was on flying and fun. I think everyone who attended will agree that we meet both of these goals. A couple of memories from the 2007 Rumble;
1. Tomato Toss – Not sure how we came up with this, but it seemed like tossing tomatoes at a Heli in flight would be kinda cool. Perhaps next year we can try bigger tomatoes or even peaches!! (BTW, the Tomatoes were WELDED to the runway when I tried to clean them off on Sunday)
2. Blade Scrape – Mark’s pictures tell the story. J-Rock certainly laid the hammer down with the traveling scrape, but only at the cost of some wrenching later in the day. BTW We found your fuel tank padding on Sunday when cleaning up!! We had a great deal of fun with the Raptor 30, sorry for balling it up, but all I could hear is JROCK busting me for not do a traveling scrape. I tell you I really wanted to scrape up the tomatoes on the runway.
3. Night Fly Contest – Paul Soha not letting anything stop him from flying at night, down to one blade and one string glow wire he still pushed forward. Great effort. Nick again flying hard and there are still people talking about the 30 foot traveling blade scrape at night down the runway…AWESOME.
Some special thanks –
Mark – A true professional with the pictures and donating the cash for both the blade scrape and night flying contest. Thank You.
Keith Hiser – Lafayette Cloud Jockey member who donated the use of his generator all weekend. He stayed at the event and ran registration and impound, allowing me to concentrate on everything else.
Rob McGuire – Working to help out where he is needed. Thanks for running the show Sunday morning and giving me a break.
SPEKTRUM – What a WONDERFUL technology. As an event director, it is nice to see all the 2.4 GHZ system and not have to worry about frequency control.
Jared – Awesome Flying, and thanks for staying around Sunday to be the show for the 10-15 spectators we had roll through the event on Sunday.
GMRO – A true friend to travel 950 miles to support an event. Nuff said. Thank you!
Mario/Alex – Always welcome you candid observations and unique sense of humor. (BTW, Mario I have you charge lead )
I am sure there is more, as it takes a great deal of effort to run an event smoothly. I plan on following the same format next year. So get you night equipment, sacrificial blades ready to RUMBLE. We will reconvene on July 11 – 13, 2008.
Thanks to All
