I bought a BCP and want to do some upgrades. I was wondering what some of the best ones are. I am new to this and am having some trouble getting this thing dialed in.

Best thing to do is start by working on the learning curve first. If you haven't flown heli's before, they are very sensitive to input. With a plane you just throw the stick wherever you want to go. With a heli, it takes very little stick to get it to move. And once it starts moving it's very quick and you have a tendency to overcorrect. The first thing you want is a good sim if you don't have one.

By BCP, I'm taking it that you mean Blade CP, not CP Pro. This is what I've done to mine that I believe made an immediate improvement:

Bell/Hiller-much more responsive to input
Direct drive tail-faster response with smaller rotor
Aluminum swash-very smooth cyclic
Landing gear-no more broken skinny cf rod (also replaced tail support)
Good Lipos-probably one of the most important (requires new pinion)
Heat sinks on both motors-absolutely necessary

Of course these are just my opinion, but I'm very happy with my blade.

One last upgrade I forgot to mention- It's called a Trex :D added in July

1st thing you should do is get the mechanics set up properly. Just 'cuz E-Flite says it's factory flown, doesn't mean its setup is proper. http://www.bladecprepair.com will get you all the info you need to get the mechanics set up.

After that, I'd suggest the Bell Hiller upgrade and the alum swash.

If you can work in a brushless main motor, do so.

I'm with Zooland, That's pretty much the best list of initial (hover training and starting forward flight) upgrades.

While your using the brushed motors, its also good to have a few extras of each motor laying close.

After that, get yourself a quality transmitter and go seperates. You'll have allot better control of all the settings, curves and such....plus....the good computer transmitters have throttle cut. Throttle cut can be assigned to a switch on the tx that you throw just before your heli hits the ground in a crash....eliminating any "chicken dancing" that really breaks parts.

But.....the best upgrade of all is - flying time and training those thumbs. By keeping the heli cheap (OEM parts replacement) you can get back in the air with less expense. Down time kills your learning curve.

best of luck

Thanx for the info. I have been working on getting the heli setup right. Still working on it, but i like the challenge. I guess that's why I bought a heli, for the challenge.

Wise decision. Do you have a sim?
