Can anybody tell me what you guys are running for motor, pipe, servos, etc.

This will be my first nitro heli and I would love to hear what everybody out there is using.

I will be ordering the same motor but I am going with mostly Curtis Youngblood equipment I think  ATG Gov, blades, and paddles. Going with all JR servos because I used them on my Trex 600 and love them and probably am going to step up to a 611 gyro.

Keep it coming people, give us your info. I PM'd Bob Finless because I know he loves his and he is good buddies with Ian Crane and Marty K who both have Vibes.

P.S. Congrats Kinger

JR is coming up with two new Gyros, G770 and G8000, also one new tailservo called DS8900G something, maybe you can stay with the JR electronics

We have a guy at our field that just put a JR G7000T and 8700 servo and gyro on his heli and it's every bit as good as the 611. DOUG

What about blade size? What is the root and hub that we need? I am thinking of giving up on the Aurora and going with a Vibe instead. I already orderd 2 sets of blades for the Aurora and I was wondering if they will fit the Vibe without any modification.

dslyby, that is exactly what happened to me. I got tired of waiting for the Aurora and went for the Vibe. Man let me tell you, I am about a third through the build and this thing is all about quality. What a nice machine this is.

I got the Radix 710 blades.

I believe the grips on the Vibe are 18x5. My new Vibe should arrive tomorrow from the good ol' UPS man and I'll be using some 710mm Radix as well.

So I need 18x5 for sure huh? What I shame. I have three brand new sets of blades for the Aurora which are 14x5 I think. Damn. I wonder if the tail blades and paddles I have are the right size.

You can use the 14x5 blades the kit comes with spacers. I am using 14x5 Radix on mine.DOUG

dslyby,

Your blades should come with washers for 14mm, 16mm, & 18mm at least my Radix did. I believe the kit also comes with spacers but I have not got that far yet.

Exactly, just because your blades are only 14mm root doesn't mean you can't use them on the Vibe. You just need to shim them. Hoping the kit comes with shims as the Radix I purchased from another pilot did not have them included.

As for tail blades and paddles, what do you have? Planning on using 90 or 95mm V's on mine with some 105mm tail blades from Radix or Rotortech.

My blades are all V Blades. No shims included. So I don't know if what you gentleman are proposing still applies. But tails and paddles I think are 95 and 105. I'll check when I get home.

It still applies Enzo. You can either use shims that come in the kit (If the kit comes with them which I'm not sure of.) or you can get blade shims from any number of other sources. I know Hirobo includes some plastic blade shims in their Evo 90 kits that might be available through HeliProz, Rick's and so on. If I can find the part number I'll post it here. Edit - Here is a link

Those paddles and tails should be just fine as both the Vibe and the CX head use 4mm flybars.

Kinger,

You are the man. THANK YOU!!! I went to my local hobby store today and asked them for a quote on the Vibe. I am waiting for them to get back to me. Actually there is a friend of mine that is tired of waiting like me and I am seeing what kind of deal we can get for 2. I'll elt you know when I order one.

Wait....One more thing...

Can I use my engine which is a

O.S. .91 SZ-H PH-Hyper w/Pump & Regulator

Maybe I should ask before I just assume....

Yep, no problem on the OS. In fact, the stock gear ratio on the kit is 8.1.

There is a great Vibe build up thread on www.archeli.com.au in the workshop section of the forum (you'll have to register on the site to access the thread) from an individual who had never built one before. Really shows the positives and negatives of his build.

Hey Ghostrider, how are things going with your new Vibe now that you have it all together? Have you had the opportunity to fly it much yet?

Mine is still on the workbench :( Hoping that I can make some progress on it this weekend.

Kinger,

The build was extremely easy with the exception of "dial indicating" part of the fan/clutch. Other than that, I had no problems whatsoever. :D

I now have about a gallon of fuel through it. All that I can say is WOW even running it at stock needle settings to break in the motor.

It will take some time to get used to it. It's hard to explain but everything is right now! No lag time and no slop. Stationary flips and rolls feel like you are on an axes. No floating or lag. Everything is quicker than I am use to. Almost like a controlled out of controlled feeling.

If you imagine driving an Indy car... high tuned precision machine but in the wrong hands, could be dangerous or hard to drive.... That's the feeling I get.

Don't get me wrong, this fly's better than anything I have ever had the opportunity to fly but it is an "Indy Car" that will require some time/practice before I feel completely comfortable with it.

Having said that, my flying is moderate to semi-aggressive 3D but I am progressing extremely fast (according to the locals at my flying field) so to a seasoned pilot, the Vibe should be amazing.

Sweet! That's good to hear. Got cracking on mine last night and made it up to the main frame assembly. Would have kept going, but it was about my bedtime :) So far, I am very impressed with the quality of the parts and the ease of assembly.
