I'm a newbie and just completed my swift build, I ordered the Century Nimh 12c 30a 14.4 volt battery and my question is do I have to run a seperate BEC or is the one in the ESC ok, I have the century electron 50/60 and I do not want to fry it when my battery arrives. I used the TP 3C 2200 11.1V from my t-rex to set-up and test everything and when I pooled up the swift seemed extremely sensitive compared to my t-rex hde, how can I tame down the swift? flybar wieghts? and if so how many grams? I am a complete newbie and I'm learning to hover with the t-rex, I can hover tail in for a full pack and thats about it. My set-up on the swift is, century outrunner 600, Century 50/60 ESC, 14 tooth pinion, and the above mentioned battery. Any info or advise will be geatly appreciated. :dontknow

Yes, you will need a separate bec or rx battery pack. From Century's esc documentation - "2Cell / 7.4V - 4 Servos, 3Cell / 11.1V - 3 Micro Servo, 4-6Cell / 14.8-22.2V - No BEC Output Support".
So, even at 11.1V it does not output enough for the standard size servos in the Swift, and above that, the BEC is disabled.
Not sure about what flybar weights to use. People seem to be having luck with the TT "greenies" paddles which are 20g I believe. The stock paddles are 13g, so maybe 7g on each side might help? I just got my Swift together as well, and I'm thinking about trying out those greenies. Oh, and the Century Hawk paddles are supposed to tame it down as well. You can also try lowering your CCPM values for cyclic on your radio to tone it down a bit.
Enjoy your new heli, I'm loving mine! :Bang

I'm using JR Venture 3d Paddles on mine. I'm not sure of the weight, but they are definetally heaver than the stock.

opsguy49, yes the swift has a very agressive head compared to other helis but thats a good thing ;)
The first thing to try is to put in about 30% expo!!!! This will soften the feel around center stick.

Use the hawk paddles, they come with flybar weights. The hawk paddles will make nice stable flight.

Thanks for all the info, I'll go ahead and order the BEC, and hawk paddles. Thanks for the extra info Finless, I built the heli using your videos and as everyone else has said they are a great help to us newbies, I used them for the t-rex and it hovered solid as a rock on my first try, it gave me the confidence to get the swift, you guys are right, this hobby is addicting. I really like building the kits as much as learning to fly. I'm thinking about a nitro kit for a winter build as soon as I can decide which kit! I added some pics of the completed helis :noteworthy

Be my guest, it was my first attempt at it and it came out pretty good considering it's just spray paint. I have a nice airbrush but it's a pain in the a** to change colors and clean everything. Maybe on the next one. Thanks again for the videos and advice. :D
