It will be for electric heli's too. On the vbar forum one of the mikado guys had a vid posted of a 700N flying with the new gov and a Logo 600E with the vbar gov.
But the beta testing going on right now is for nitro only.

I had a similar thought (ICE + FBLgov = win?) but I heard that the TotalG and CGY750 governors were nitro only. I do think this could provide an extremely consistent headspeed if they can utilize some type of rpm sensor. For my heli, the worthless ICE BEC is the issue at the moment.

Curtis has used the totalG gov on a electric. Either use a magnet on the main gear or a sensor on the brushless motor leads like the eagle tree rpm sensor. I have heard of one HF user used the eagle tree sensor with his SK720 and is logging his rpm. I don't think the SK gov is released yet.

That would be me with the Skookum and Eagletree :YeaBaby:

I have asked to see if I can get into the beta for the Skookum gov but haven't heard back. I have just fitted an ICE 120HV to the Logo and have another eagletree sensor waiting to go on there when Mikado release the VBar gov so I can compare them.

Ha small world Dennis. Didn't you have to switch a couple of wires around on the eagle tree sensor to get it to work?

I wonder if you will have to do the same thing with the vbar.

Yep, :) I had switch two of the wires, as apparently the EagleTree doesn't use the same standard. Red and black swapped, now that I have checked, signal was in the right place.

I am guessing we will have to swap as for both FBL units we are plugging into the servo bus and it has positive in the middle of the plug.

The upcoming Vbar governor will be interesting depending on how "torque-aware" both the control surface input/out and throttle output are connected. Knowing tail torque precomp is needed and applying it simultaneously (or just prior to) increasing throttle output should make for a very smooth flying setup.

Of course us guys flying Kontronik will be out of luck until they come out with V10 firmware; the V9 firmware has a slight delay on throttle channel input vs output so the Vbar governor doesn't play nice with it.

All the quad (or higher) copters work with modified esc's that can take i2c input and can update the motor speed every .5ms or less!
I wonder how Mikado's gov will work on electrics. It has all the parameters to outperform every traditional governor except that it will never be able to get corrections to the motor as fast as a build in governor can...
