I'm trying to go seperates on my bcp. But I can't figure out why my tail motor would go full throttle everyime I power it up. Here's my setup

DX6 TX/RX
em350 main with GWS ICS-300E ESC
X-UFO tail motor with GWS ICS-100E ESC
Esky HH gyro

I had the main esc on throttle channel, AIL/ELE on their channels, and the rudder on the gyro, and the gyro output on the tail esc. I didn't even use the pitch yet since I was just doing a dry run. The parts are all just sitting on the desk. Since I was having problems so I took out the GER channel for the remote gain. Everything else responds as expected. I even had the rudder adjustment all the way down to 0% and it's still coming up as full throttle upon power up. What am I doing wrong?

The heading hold gyro starts out in the middle, so therefore its giving half throttle. Just like a servo driven tail, at startup the tail is in the middle. I am not sure how to get it out with a DX6, but try subtrimming to the left alot.

I finally figure it out. I used the rev mix and took it down to -150% for 0 throttle. I have to play with it some more to get it dialed in, but it looks like it'll be fine.

Good to Know, my brother wanted to do the same mod and he also has a DX6, now he will know how to do it.

I thought that using revo mix with HH gyro was a no no?

I am having the same problems. My set-up is:
9CHPS radio
Himax 2015-3600 brushless
Align 25A esc on the main
GWS 2A on tail
Walkera WK-G006 AVCS gyro,
GWS DD tail motor
I am only using the RX portion of the 4in1.

you're absolutely right. I didn't have the gyro configured correctly. I no longer need the revo mix now.

Since I was having problems, I moved everything to my Dragonfly 4 to get everything up and running first before moving on. Holy crap the DF4 is like a completely different machine!

3-cells will work much better with the wood blades (at the expense of motor lifespan). Due to the higher voltage 11.1V pack, I'm going to go back to trying the 45-turn Blade CP motor with the 11-tooth pinion. I'm guessing this might actually be better to use on 3-cells than the EM350 because the lower current draw of the Blade CP / 300H motor should make it last longer. It will be interesting to see.

I'm using:

DX6 TX and RX
Stock servos
GWS Brushless Motor BR-2028-4 Green with GWS 10T pinion

Align 25A BL esc
X-UFO tail motor
GWS ICS100E/J Speed Control for brushed motor
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHUY3&P=7
E-sky heading lock gyro
http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=46&products_id=1743
Thunder Power 1320mah 3S lipo pack

I just test flew again tonight, holy crap this is soooo nice! No glitches, lots of tail authority and the tail actually holds! It flew better than my stock Blade CP. I'm loving it. I could use a little more headspeed, I'm going to try a 12T next.

What did you do to get it flying correctly?

Well, I had all the parts on the table testing, and the gyro apparent is super sensitive. It would spin the motor up easily on any sort of movement. Since it's in HH mode, it just kept going faster and faster since it thinks it isn't keeping the heading. Once I had it mounted it was much better. It also has the tendency to think it is rotating CCW eventhough it isn't. so that just compounds the problem. So if I had set it up all up on the heli to begin with and mounted directly to the frame, there weren't have been any problem. :) I had it on an extension and that caused unncessary vibration.
