Hi,
while I'm doing stationary flips with my raptor 50 gy401+9254 and plastic tailblades, my tail doesn't hold in windy conditions. I have an ff9, limit pot on the 401 is set at about 90, my gain is at about 80 AVCS in idle up at 2050rpm.
is this normal? is my gain not set up properly?

I think you need longer tail blades.
If the limit is set to 90 and the throw each direction is maxed out on the tail pitch slider. Then you definitely need longer tail blades.
With the gain set to 80 in AVCS mode, the servo is really being worked hard and will probably have a short life. The GY 401 should hold the tail fine with the gain set around 40.

with the ball at 13 mm from the center(was the furthest I could get) and at about 95 on the limit pot(I don't really understand why it performs better in certain limit value's, but I did it as instructed...), the tail pitch slider just doesn't touch the sides of the tail(the slider I mean, about 2mm short each side), because I heard from finless' video the 401 works best at +/-90, and I thought I didn't really need full tail pitch.
So I think the 401 is set up properly, I'll lower the gain to about 55% and install larger tailblades. which do you advise? about 92mm length?

you need the ball 16-18mm out. 13 is not enough. Use a different servo arm like the + or
the bigger wheel.

I actually set my tail pitch slider where it is just touching at full throw in each direction. This is on the bench. It will never touch in flight at full sitck deflection. The gyro will keep it from doing that. Like Z11355 said. You need to go out on the servo arm and try it again. Also lower the gain to about 50% at least.
