Looks like I need a new transmitter battery. Can't get a charge over 9.7. Question is where is a good replacement battery and do any of you use lithium batteries for the transmitter?
Thanks

This is the battery I use. It easily lasts all day (or longer) before it needs charging. No special charger is needed, just use the stock Futaba wall unit.

Scroll about 1/3 of the way down for the 2700 mAh pack. The owner of Hangtimes Hobbies used to work for SR Batteries. Basically he provides the same quality for half the price.

Ypu don't say what transmitter you have. If it is 9C or 7C or even the 9Z. If you put a 2700 mah battery in it. Your going to need more than the wallwart charger that came with the radio.
Here is the specs on the 9C wall wart charger.
FBC-19B(4) Wall Charger
Input: 120V AC 60Hz 7W
Output: Tx 9.6VDC 70mA
Rx 4.8VDC 100mA
At 70 mah output from the wall wart charger it would take a minimum of 40 hours to charge a 2700 mah battery. And then the battery is not going to be fully charged. Because there would not be enough mah current to charge the battery fully.
You need at least a charger with a C/10 charge rate to charge the battery properly. This would be a charger that the output is at least 270 mah.

Longwing, I just got a NO BS battery from Hangtime Hobbies. 2700 mAh for my Futaba 9CHP. Works like a dream once you condition it. But David is right. You need a better charger than the one that came with the 9CHP. I have an AccuCycle Elite. That works very good. The guys as Hangtime Hobbies were great to work with. I sent them several emails with questions and they got right back to me. They delivered the battery in only about 2-3 days.

It's a 9C. I don't fly every day so I always leave the tranmitter on charge. I just followed the recomended charging specs provide when I purchased the battery from RadicalRC.
Unlike their other NiMH cells, these high density AA cells should never be charged above 1 amp on NiMH rated fast chargers. Reccomended overnight rates are 50 to 70mah factory wall charger and other non-peak type chargers. Break in time on such a charger is 75 hours. After a day at the field, charge overnight on wall charger.
