Trex 500 fpv

I have my Trex 500 here and the FPVPilot.com bungee mount and gear ready to go on it. My question is will the 500 carry the weight? It's gonna weigh about 20oz (flip ultra HD and landing gear in mount)... then add the FPV sn555 and the TX and the 800mah lipo for the video gear... this is going to weigh quite a bit... Will it carry that payload?

I put two thunder power 6s 2600 mah battery packs on my T500 one time. Very stable, slow flying. The weight made it easier to fly.

Those packs are about 450 grams each, so I was carrying 16 oz extra, no problem. Battery life didn't go down (it was almost twice what I was getting on one pack).

I think you would be good. I cannot barely notice any extra weight when I got the same payload on my 600.

I would go to the lowest pinion for 6s for longer flight times and less stress on the motor, and maybe try semi symmetrical blades.

FWIW, my T500 ESP head spins at 2200 RPM, and I put 2300 mah back after a 10 minute flight.

I used to go 2000 RPM, but the model nods (yes/no) now, and I can't figure out why.

I was looking into the semisymetrical blades but only found 550 as the smallest... Where can i find the right ones for my 500?

I bought mine for my 600 @ helidirect. They were 570 swe semi-symmetrical, and they worked great, but I did not see any that would fit your 500.

I wouldn't worry about semi-symmetrical blades too much. Even serious AP'ers often don't bother because of their funny flight characteristics. The benefit of semi-sym is better efficiency, which you'll get plenty of by lowering headspeed. Also, I don't know of a ~425mm semi-sym blade.

FAI and flybarless blades are nice for AP because the model is a little more stable. Also, be sure to balance the blades very well for good video footage. My next set of blades will either be Radix (FBL or FAI) or RotorTech FAI. You might also consider Edge FBL, but my Edge flybar 423mm blades required balancing.
