Hello,
I want to put a Lipo in my Raptor 50 for the receiver pack... I have a 4cell 3800 Nicle Metal Hydride in their now......
So the ? is what all do I need... BEC,lipo(voltage,mah,etc)..... any help would be great...

Some do it but I personally dont like the soft pack lipos as reciever batteries in a nitro, I would get LiIon like Duralite or Fromeco and use a 5.1 or 5.3 voltage regulator.
Either way you will need a regulator capable of the input voltage of the lip, if its a 3 cell that would be on the order of 11 or 12 volts.

Thanks Barracuda,
I was just looking into the Duralite.... now looking into the regulator.....
That's what I needed to know.... George

I've been using 2 Cell LiPo's in as my Rx. packs for a few months now & I love it! I use the Duralite 5.1 volt regulators w/ no problemas at all.
The advantage to the LiPo's is I can charge them in roughly 1 hour and I can let them set there for a week or so & there still good to go - No overnight charging or leaving them on trickel till your ready to fly. Another advantage & this is what convinced me to change, is with the NiCd & NiMh packs I would notice the responce of the heli would slow after only a few flights but the voltage of the pack would still be safely flyably and discharging the pack for test purposes after only a few flights showed there was still quiet a bit left in it. My conclusion was even though there was quiet a bit of compacity left in the pack, while flying the voltage would drop causing the slow response. With the LiPos being 7.4 & regulated to 5.1 you could fly till the pack was destroyed & not notice any response changes - till you crashed!. With that being said if you use liPos or Ions its imparitive to keep check on the pack voltage with about a 1 amp load. I did this by using a 7.5 ohm 10 watt resistor hooked to a mulitmeter. Stop flying voltage (for me) is around 7.2 volts under a 1 amp load. With an 1800 2 Cell Evo 20 pack this gives me about 7 flights on my Stinger 50.
What ever you choose good luck & if you have any ???? you can get the answers here at the FREAK!

Thanks, Steve I'm probably going the Lipo route since I do have a few. Thanks for the info.... George

So I can use an Align 5.1 BEC right..... do I plug it in betweer the receiver pack and receifer... or the receiver and the gyro...I have JR DS811 servo's

I would say you probably could. What you need to look for is what input voltage it will handle as well as the current (amps) it will pass.
Never used a BEC befoer but with the regulators they need to be plugged in between the switch & Rx. otherwise they will draw a small amount of current from the battery when not in use.

the title I seen for them is.... Align External BEC (including 5.1v step-down voltage regulator

I have one for my Trex 600.... but would want it for it... just thinking of getting one for the raptor... if it will work... the rex 600 has a 2s lipo that runs through the BEC...
