Friday report.
At the close of registration at 5PM today. 120 registered pilots. We have some big hitters in attendance in both pilots and manufactuers.
Augusto Avarelo and hit team of pilots are here with the Aurora.
Alan Szabo Sr, Alan Jr, Danny. Marcus Kim , Henry Caldwell, Elvis Leslie.
Tim Schoonard of the team from Miniature Aircraft,
Bert Kammerer, Clint Akins, Craig Martin, Eric Larson, Zak Johns, Bobby Watts
Andy Yu and the Team Align pilots
Matt Botts, Tyler Bonta and his dad Carl from Team Synergy,
Jerry Sudimick and Will Fanning from Team Raptor.
Chris Bergen from Bergen Helicopters, Greg Alderman and Chris flying there turbines.
Have some scalers in the group also. Peter Wales is here with some of his nice scale helis. Expecting Emile ( copterdoctor) Shariff on Saturday along with Darrell Sprayberry.
Also John Adams from Spektrum , John has brought the new 2.4 modules and receivers for some of the pilots to test and try.
Steve Helms from Futaba. Steve has a couple of the new Futaba 2.4 FASST radios that a couple of the top pilots installed and are going to fly.
This it the event in the south to get any kind of help or technical advice you might need with any brand you have.
Weather on Friday was crappy till about 1PM. Skies cleared around then and the wind slowed down to about 15-20 mph. Around 4PM the wind started dropping to less than 10 mph, Temps were in the mid 50s to 60 all day. Little on cool side, but the flying was hot , it kept every one warm.
Forecast for Saturday and Sunday
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. North wind between 5 and 10 mph.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 38. North wind between 5 and 10 mph becoming calm.
Sunday: Partly cloudy, with a high near 64. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.
Looks like it is going to be little cool, but should be great flying the rest of the event.

Flying has been "HOT" by all the team pilots, so the ditch KING is hard to call with one exception, that being Matt Botos flying his Synergy got into the water twice without crashing!!! First time was skids and tail blades, second time was a main blade in an inverted move that splashed water up, then he punched out for altitude and did two blade stop autos on the way down :WOW :glasses2:

Was Matt's flight the raging to an inverted blade touch in the water? Or was it the flip to the upright touch in the water to kill the engine, lift the heli out of the water (with the engine dead) to an auto next to the ditch? There was so much killer flying it was hard to keep track.
The only down side I see to the fantastic flying was it was really tough to fly next to these guys. Every time I went out to burn some fuel, I was between two world class acts! Not good for my ego! :)
We need a Sunday report.
Thanks to David for a fantastic event. I got in some good flying and saw many old friends.

The first time was A straight dip in the water. The second was inverted splash to climb out and do two blade stop autos back to back. (Single auto) Matt was awesome as was everyone else.

Well just came in from the field. There were several pilots that stayed till dark . They flew all day.
First let me say a big THANK YOU to the 167 pilots that came to this event and registered and flew. Every one acted respectable and conducted there selves in a great manner. The flying was fabulous and every one that I saw put safety first into there flying. You that attended is what makes this event so great. This event is the most largely attended event in the USA with only the Jamboree in Muncie being larger. This year was special because we had company owners or employees from the top manufactuers. Andy Yu from Align USA, Tim Schoonard from Miniature Aircraft USA, Augusto Averalo from Avant, Chris Bergen from Bergen Helicopters,
David Ellison from Gohbee. Each brand also had there top Team pilots at the event.
I would say between 11 AM to 5PM Saturday there were several hundred spectators at the event. Out of the 167 pilots I would say 150 of them went home with something from the pilot raffle. Several went home with a helicopter kit or a radio.
Again thanks to everyone that attend. The field was back to the shape it was before the event started. Every one did exactly as asked and carried any garbage away with them. Couple of us walked around this evening and there was very little to pick up.
I hope the pilots that the Ditch was not good to will get there models back into flying shape. I guess next year I will need some hip waders, for pilots to use to go and retrieve their model when the ditch reaches up and grabs it for a snack.
Hope everyone had a safe and uneventful trip back to their home.
