I would like to officially announce the 5th Annual Chattanooga Helicopter Jamboree. The event will be held on May 25-27 in Chattanooga TN.

This year the event will be held at my new home field, the Chattanooga Radio Control Club. The Chattanooga Radio Control Club is situated on an 85acre landfill which is 10 minutes from Hamilton Place Mall. There are many hotels and restaurants in the mall area and I will post the list a little later.

The field is gated, overnight camping with trailers if fine, night flying will be spectacular. We have a large covered area, along with a newly build concession building for food service.

For a look at the club and field visit www.crccflyers.org

Thanks

Charles

folks I've already checked out the new digs and the field is pretty nice and a LOT closer to the good restaurants! :)

the drive in will be a little tricky for you folks hauling the big rigs but they've supposedly had some hauled up the hill.

as for usual 'low' altitude flying...well that 'obstacle course' will be quite challenging and could make for some 'stinky' flying. :)

Charles, can't wait!

BTW, For camping off site the Holiday Travel Park is real nice. Exit 1 on I-75. Just minutes away.

Charles, How steep is the hill getting into the field? Big Al says it's pretty steep..

Want to make sure I can get my camper up. :D

I have been there and if you have a big camper you will need 4 wheel drive to get up the hill without spinning and throwing gravel on the front of the camper but all in all if you take it easy you will probably be able to get up with a 2 wheel drive.

Uh ohhhhh, that doesn't sound good for me. 29 Foot 5th wheel, double slide out about 10,000 lbs. Pulling with a 3/4 ton Dodge cummins, 5 speed limited slip 4.11 gears in the rear. Maybe, maybe not.... :? :? :? :?

We will definitely be there. This is the closest event for me to travel to. It would be a shame to miss it. Besides, Charles would never forgive me if I didn't go.

Huntsville Funfly has now passed and was awesome!! Now it is time to prepare for the next one. If the weather is as good as it was this past weekend, Chattanooga should be fantastic. The new field is really nice with some great views of the surrounding area. There are some definite advantages to being on top of a large hill. We are really looking forward to it.

See all of you there!!

So who is coming to Chattanooga?? I sure hope it is not just us who show up. The best part of a funfly is the people that you get to visit with.

Well this will be the first time I will/may not be able to attend Chatti event. Wish I could make it, but I have to be at Talladega on Sunday morning. Going to get take a few laps around Talladega in a Nascar race car. Still may try to make it for Friday and Saturday and head home Saturday evening. This is a great event, and I am sure the new location is even better. Hope the flying field does not face the morning sun. LOL

It looks like I may be visiting Chatti for this event. Won't have any heli's with me. But I'll keep the bench warm...

Weather is looking good for next weekend, field is almost ready with just a little mowing left. My Huntsville site approval committee was here this weekend for a walk through of the new site so we are good to go. I have got the area laid out for trailer, and I have a good estimate but if you are bringing a trailer make a post just to give me numbers. Last year we had 8 at the old field if I remember correctly.
