Two questions:

1) Is it critical that the S9252 servo is supplied ONLY with 4.8V???

2) Do you HAVE to use a NiCD battery to supply the S9252??

If so, isn't that servo a bit limited in its aplications???

1. No
2. No

Keep it regulated under 6v and its fine. They shouldnt be run straight off 5 cell packs since the full charge voltage can approach 7v.

The NiCad warning is a hold over from the days NiMH packs had high internal resistence and the voltage dropped off under load, not an issue any more with quality cells.

Well the Nicad battery warning is really from the days of the rc car users using akaline batterys to power the electronics. Alkaline is 1.5 volt per cell. So 4 x 1.5 would be 6 volts or better.

Thanks, as always very informative and to the point. I can now live in peace with my new S9252īs and my 4 cell NiMH! :D

9252's have no problem that I know of handling a regulated 6 volts. I know several pilots that had used 6 volts with them. Now with that being said, more voltage is going to shorten the lifespan on them some. By how much I don't know a way to determine that. There is many other factors involved in the lifespan of a servo.
