WOW its too hot out there but...
flew today or should call it hops .... changed in the last week *
mainshaft
tail shaft /.bearings
belt
tail blades
motor and bearings -nice and smooth now ,
checked binding and found a tiny bit on the forks of the tail link (fixed)
still get side to side shaking and can feel a bump bump bump in the tail boom but cant find an issue i wondered if it could be a bad oneway bearing like that sleeve bent or outa of round im lost.
gyro gain at 62 or i get the bad shakes but it always shakes just less with the gain almost at lower value (vibes are the main cause)

Man, i can't think of what the problem could be as you've mentioned changing all the stuff i'm thinking of. Hope you do work it out soon enough & get her all smooth again.

You say you feel a bumping in the boom, could the belt be twisted? I'd also double check the balance on the blades

i ran it without the blades a bit ago and i can see the main gear and the belt gear oscillating , the belt is for sure right i just looked down the boom with a led light and can see the belt has the one twist in it

main gear is oscillating ?
like moving laterally ?
are there all the bearings in the frame that house the main shaft ?
maybe one of them are broken

i looked at them didnt see them move at all the main shaft slides right down through all of them no tension at all . o and yes i have that silly lil spacer between the bearing and the main gear . it more like wobbles ill get kay to make a vid of it.
the one way locks right but when you look from the side you can see it wobble obviously the belt gear more so than the main .

mine wobbles too thats not a problem.
My only thinking is the blades are way off balance

or if you have the blades too loose it can do that also

i went out with a new pack a sec ago
put the white pulley on and new kbdd blades and tightened them enough so if i hold the grip and push the blade it moves but not falls
the mains are so i would have to shake really hard .
i tried the old ink on the tip to track em and cant tell at all their white and i still cant see em so i static tracked them with the digi pitch gauge @0 seems better but still there especially when i hit 2400
im out of the orig gyro tape and using the rotorworkz tape i cant see that causing it still with no blades on its pretty smooth up till 2400 with blades on any faster than 2200 it really vibs oh and im running the BLACK fbl dampners should i keep those in ?

Maybe the black dampeners are too hard? Maybe your tracking is off just a bit, and you said you cant see it? I would def take the OWB out and check it.

Bryan, the owb bearing is working cant tell if its bent at all but it locks and spins fine on the balancer felt a little gritty at first but that was a flight ago when i swapped the black gear out . what color dampener should i use i have black green and red) and would that cause the tail to shake i thought that made the whole heli wobble in place.(guess it could induce vibes) the guy at the field last year saw my head out a turn by putting a black mark on the root i dont know how the heck he could see that tho.

Have you cheked the tail blade tracking. I had a tail shake once that I simply could not track down. At one point I just happened to be spinning the mains by hand and was looking down on the tail blades and there was a speck of something on the table and just happen to notice that as each tail blade came around the tail blade trailing edge of each blade was way off. One blade the trailing edge would visibly run over that mark but the other was a mile off. I could find nothing visibly wrong with the tail hub or grips what so ever. I then changed the hub and grips and the tracking was perfect and the shake totaly dissapeared. Only thing I can think off was the hub was not machined quite right or the grip control arms were slightly off. Just a thought.

i will definatly recheck the tail hub i just swapped the shaft out not long ago trying to fix it , but with no blades on it seems fine keep in mind before i went fbl this shaking didnt exist

What fbl head are you using? I am just curious. I know my Rjx head on my 400 custom required a lot more tourqe on the blade grip bolts than I am used to. Others have informed me theirs were the same. I had way to much blade movement unless the bolts were tighter than I am used to. I hate chasing down shakes when they dont seem to be obvious.HA!

Black dampers are fine

standard fbl head . im still hitting a bump i can feel it when i rotate the head slow gota be a gear or one way thats the only thing in the drive line i havent changed at first i thought it was the white belt gear out of round but their all like that .

If you disengage the tail do you still get the bump? Possibly check your guide pulleys too

tail by its self is fine . just the head/shaft its smooth as well hook the belt and the gear up an i get the bump im going to check out that gear in the morning i saw a tool mark on it (flashing) i doubt thats the bump it feels more like the oneway sleeve im so frustrated im going in circles

So the bump is one time for every revolution of the head? What happens if you disengage the pinion and turn the main gear backwards? That could rule out oneway
gregg25

the pinion has been disconnected. i get a tail shake every revolution turned by hand which rules out the head and i see what you mean by the one way now so your right either way i rotate its a weird bump im sure at rpm's the tail will shake as i can feel it even slow if the main bearings were possiable what symptoms would i see?

Check your white plastic belt gear? Any odd protuberances on it? Is that even the right word? I've had to clean mine up with a exacto knife.

yep pete sanded it smooth.
went and tried again after resetting the motor pinion and im getting a whine and a pop im thinking the oneway is um on its way out. the main gear is not perfect on the motor pinion which may be why the shaft was replaced in the motor . when i get some cash ill order the gear and 1 way kit

The teeth on the belt can occasionally catch on the edge of the tail pulley. It will make a tick sound, but I don't know if it could result in the vibration issues you are experiencing.

thats what pete mentioned i had filed down 1 nubb but its not what i was feeling
lil while ago i went out and ran it up to 2300 and it made a squeal and snap i shut it down and rechecked the motor pinion im still suspecting the oneway to cause squeal
