Triton temperature probe question

Ok, I just picked up a used Triton charger and it has the temperature probe. I also bought a new Equinox balancer to use with it. My question is, how do you use the temp probe? The manual says, "slide the white end of the probe onto the battery in parallel with the cells - straddling the area where two cells touch side-by-side." The probe doesn't seem to open wide enough to allow this to happen. By the way, I'm charging an e-flite 3s for my Blade CPP but I also have a TP battery and it wouldn't work for that on either.

If anyone has this charger/temp probe setup could you give me a better description of how to use it or even better yet a picture of it as it should be during use?
