Hi all,

I was planning on giving the stock canopy for my new spectra-g a simple paint scheme and was wondering if rustoleum will work with good results?

Thanks in advance

I had mine painted by Canopy FX. I think that rustoleum are generally metal paints but they may work, not sure. Are you planning on brushing them on or is this a spray can? If you want to see pictures of my paint job take a look at my runryder gallery (don't have one here), my username there is the same, rbort.

I am planning on spraying them on. In past I have used rustoleum on plank cowels with success but that was using nitro fuel. I would think a nitro engine would coat the cowel more so than a gasser but not sure what the different exhaust's will do.

There is no mess with gas like with nitro so you will not get that oil slick on your model. If you are concerned because of that then its not going to be a problem in that sense. When I paint my canopies myself and put decals on you don't even need to clearcoat to keep the decals on, but I do it just to give it that nicer shinyier look.

If you are concerned spray paint a test item and then take a rag, put some gas on it and rub the paint with it and see what happens. Some paints that are not gas proof will wipe right off, others will stay.
