Any pics of the installation and how much time to convert to the belt drive?

No pictures yet as it is not in the finished stage and any pictures would be completly different than the finished product. I will say I can change ratios in less than 5 min and the finished product will have some cool features that this does not. I will also add it has been trouble free for over 200 flights. It will be worth the wait to get the final product.

Clint can step out the door of his house and fly. He has a flying field at this house and it even has lights to fly after the sun goes down. So it is no problem for him to go out and get several flights in an hour or so each day.

This is a really nice setup as you can put it anywhere you want. Flies like the sim...........

Flies like the sim...........[/quote]
I recently purchased the G3 expansion pack with the Ion-X option. I find the Ion-X on G3.5 disappointing and way too sluggish compared to when I fly my real Ion. Cylic and collective is 50% less responsive compared to my real Ion. For my sim training I use the Domino90 3D, it is much closer to my real Ion. Am I missing something in the program to increase the responsiveness of the Sim Ion?

Flies like the sim........... My meaning was that model that you make the perfect setup on and it is the same every time you fly it. The CC controls with the Castle link make it possible to fine tune your electric heli.
As far as the Ion on G3.5 , I am flying the Domino 90 3D also just for orientation. If I get the expansion and modify the Ion I will share it with you.

hey , on G3 , I just mod my Domino 90 3D to act like my Ion, just copy it , then start tinkering with cyclics HP. Blades that act like the Vs

Clint,
Had a look at your 1700 hs (sounds more like 1800 to me) video. Great flying Mate, but it sounds like a lot of motor bogging going on. I'm pretty sure that there would be less bogging at 1900-2000 hs. I may be wrong, but that's how it looked and sounded to me.
Cheers,

That IS 1700, I tached it myself. Clint is running +-13 degrees, and the motor is not bogging whatsoever, that is just the V-Blades making a lot of noise. The 1700 HS is just to prove a point, not necessarily the best for 3D. If you look at the video closely, look how consistent the HS stays if it was bogging, you would see a LOT more drop. Look at a glow video that has bogging and look how much the HS drops when the pilot boggs the machine. This is definitely not happening with Clint's machine, although the blades are making a lot of noise.

Tom I have 1700 , 1800 and 2000. The HS is snappy at 2000 but more solid at 1700. Giving the CC110 Headroom is the ticket and then it can maintain for the duration of the flight. The 9.6:1 is pefect at 1900 but uses more power if you push on it. This is my observation, at 1700 it seems to me that the motor actually speeds up a bit instead of bogging. It is just cool and fun to fly.
Clint/Will,
You guys are probably right but it still looks like hs is going up and down quite a bit as pitch is added/lowered. It would be interesting to put a data logger on it to see what it is really doing.
Cheers,
Tom C

I watched the video a few times, either my eyes and ears are not as good as Toms but it does seem steady imho. Some nice smooth flying that is one thing that is not argueable. :)

Very smooth, no doubt about it. The bogging sound (to me) might be the bite noise from the V-blades. I personally have not used them, but have seen and heard lots of them locally on Xcell Stratus's and Spectras.
The hs still looks like it is a bit up and down. The strobe effect of the blades in the video clearly shows them starting and stoping during big pitch changes. This usually indicates a change in hs, but it might also be due to other visual effects, I'm not really sure.
I guess the most important point is that the cc esc seems to be handling this low hs ok. I'm pretty sure my hacker 77 esc would fry if I tried this. Also, the Actro motors must have a pretty good/wide power band to pull a +10lb heli at +/- 13 deg pitch without bogging.
Again, a data logger would be useful in this case imop.
Cheers,
Tom C

The way the Governor works is that when the load is detected, it increases the head speed for a short period until the set HS is reached, then it backs back off. What youa re seeing is the head loading causing the GOV to increase the power to the motor, momentarily then it settles back down.
As I said before, compare the look of the blades to any nitro flight and you will see a huge difference in consistency of HS between glow and this CC in GOV mode.
I guess it is something that video does not show great, but I have flown 2 machines with this setup and all I can say is that it is what I have been looking for for a long time. LOVING it!
