Hey all
I bought a lepton used(muddbogger2) which has the a30-12xl. He was running 5s1p and I think I would like to stay with 4s. Should I look for a new motor or can I find a combination with this one. In the big scheme of things the motors are not terribly expensive in fact I could probably get one with the money saved from buying 4s compared to 5s. But if this motor will work then great. I would like to get about 2800 on the head speed.

I cant speak for that motor but if it is much like the Hyperion 3025-12 then it's not that great on 4S. The 3025-10 is great on 4S and I would assume so is the hacker A30-10

The A30-10 is perfect for 4s
About 2800 head speed under heavy load.

What about an esc. I cannot afford a jazz so I need a set up that will let me have the curves at a higher %. Also do I need a seperate bec? Any recomendations would be great. Finless are you still using the align esc and if so how is it holding up. By the way your evo 50 is still in one piece and flying good.

Yes I am still using the Align ESC and it is working great. I have used it on 4S and 5S no problems.

You will need a BEC and I reccomend the 3.5 amp UBEC which is switchable between 5V and 6V. You could also go with the Align regulator used in the Trex600. It's cheap and comes with a tail servo drop down cable. You wont need that if running a 9650 on the tail but you will if running a 9254.

Thanks for the help. It does have a 9254 on the tail. What about a battery? Are the evo 3700s the best choice?

For 4S yes the FP 3700's are great! For 5S you will want FP 3300's to save some weight. Both give about the same flight time due to the higher voltage of 5S.

Does anyone know if the tp 3850-4sxl will fit. It is 20x46x195. It is a little bit longer than the evo pack weighs about the same.

It will most likely stick out of the canopy a bit. I have a Flightpower Evo 20 4350 4S1P pack that is on order that I plan on using for longer flights. It measures 31mmx44mmx166mm which is 16mm longer than an Evo 20 3700 4S1P which is what I am flying right now.

The 3850 pack is 45mm longer than the Evo 3700 packs. That is a lot longer!

I have a TPX 4600L and it sticks out the front some, but not that bad. I will take it, since my flight times almost doubled. I use a Hyperion LS 3700 too.

I know I just said that I could not afford a Jazz, but what about the 55-6-18. Will it work? What about the esc? It is only rated for two amps. Is that enough?
