this is a great heli, love it. but of course could not leave well enough alone ;)

mods:
1. Deans
2. JR Voyager E skids (fuselage had to be cut to fit the new skids)
3. Futaba GY401 Gyro (stock gyro not holding well enough for this big guy)
4. HS81MG Servo for the tail (soon to be switched to a HSG-5083MG Digital)
5. Lipo saver

What good is a heli without a few mods? ;)

looks like a weaker plastic is being used on the tt gears compared to the original corona.

i have not had a problem in >3hrs of flight time, but I have belted tails on my corona and thought i'd try it on the funcopter.

a little easier on the FC as the shaft is 4mm, so won't have to use an adapter like you do on the corona

I will be buying a FunCopter once it starts getting cold around here, usually by Halloween it's down to about 40*F. I'll use this for my outdoor winter and indoor dome flying. :)

for the most part yes, will post more detail in a few as I had a MAJOR crash today and doing much replacement but the other way around, corona stuff to keep get the FC up!

AtTheCross,
Where did you find the belt drive mod/parts?

AtTheCross,
Where did you find the belt drive mod/parts?

i sell them as a kit or i can give you the part numbers and you can order it on your own. You will need a drill press and a 4mm drill bit to mod one of the pulleys

here's my latest video with the belt drive

ok, moved the entire head from the swash up from the corona to the funcopter and only had one problem.

the ball that the swash sits on is a few mm smaller on the funcopter than it is on the corona, so i used the corona part but it's not a direct fit, i had to cut it a little bit to make it fit. but all is good see above video

One of the problems with the original Lite Machines Corona was that the main blades could become
more brittle in the extreme cold since they are plastic and could shatter and or develop stress cracks
which would cause failure midflight.

Lets hope Multiplex is using a more pliable plastic that retains these properties even in cold temps.

I want one of these. Seems like it not only is a big heli, but also the only FP heli i have seen that comes stock with a brushless motor. Have you crashed it? are parts hard to come by?

AtTheCross

yeah, crashed big time, parts are becoming more readily available :D

I'd like to see a video of the crash, what did you break? get the parts yet?

here you go...crash

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yT74d1FJI3A

this was a minor one, just broke the skids.

I've had two majors since then and replaced with corona 120 parts except for the main shaft, had to use the funcopter one.

here's the damage list so far
(2) tail booms
(1) main shaft
(1) swash
(1) sub rotor (the flybar)
(1) center hub

the first major crash, wasn't paying attention and it went inverted and broke all the head stuff

the second crash was just a boom

go to my website for DIY mods and fixes

have you had any issues with breaking the foam body? Also, what battery and blades are you using, i see they have different options and i want to be sure to order the right ones.

AtTheCross

yeah, I cracked the front part of the body, but just hot glued it back together, MPX recommends using the hotglue

I'm using stock blades and the #5 grips, I have used #6 grips from my corona 120. From what i've read, there's a issue with the description from MPX on the different blade grips available as some have order the grips only to have the single #5 grip be delivered and not the #3,#4 and #5 as described.

I have some cnc #3 that i'm going to try tomorrow :D

put some TREX 500 skids and canopy on

Looks nice. Has it mad any difference in flight characteristics? Did the installation of the skids require any effort or did they fit right on there?
