Hi..

I heard that you can use SONY camcorder battery on your 14MZ.

Which one do I have to buy?

NP-F330?
NP-F570?

Thank you

The 570 is the one you want.

BE CAREFUL.... you can find many folks on Ebay selling 570 "type" batteries but they are not all the same.

Make sure it CLEARLY says they are 570's with 2200mah capacity!
Not all makers of 570 batts compatible batts are 2200 mah....

Oh AND they do not have to be Sony just mnake sure they are 2200 mah and your good to go.

Recently I have seen 2400 and 2600 mah so those (if the advertising is true) are even better!

Just make sure you buy a genuine Sony NP-F570. I ordered mine from Buy.com. I didn't want to take a chance on eBay.

The original battery is 7,4V 2200mah
Sony 7,2V 2200mah
Doesn't that 0,2V difference have problem??

Operationally, no. It still works fine.

Here is a discharge curve I did comparing my stock battery to the SOny. Operationally have not noticed any difference. Both work great.

Don't know what the geniune Sony batteries are going for, however Fromeco offers a very attractive option I am trying with my 14MZ. Fromeco sells a carrier PC board that, when installed slips very neatly under the contacts. Then you have the capability of plugging in one of their Relion batteries...LiIon rated at 2400 mah. Fromeco offers the carrier board separately for about ten bucks. The price on one full set that includes the carrier board and Relion battery is $32.

Why not get the Futaba battery, I know that works?

True, very true and, after some quick research, the money isn't all that different. Fromeco's battery with the carrier board sells for $32. The Sony 570 battery goes for somewhere between $30 and $35, so you are right. I gave the Fromeco batteries a try because I have had outstanding results with all of their products. This is one case well made for sticking with the "advertised" battery.

The Futaba battery is made by Sony for Futaba. In fact, I should say that Sony sells Futaba a battery made for Sony camcorders and puts it in a plastic case with the Futaba name on it.

Tower sells the Futaba battery for $90

Amazon sells the Sony battery for $39.

Identical battery. Why pay $50 more to get a different color plastic and Logo/name on the case??

I used my NIP 570 for the first time yesterday, and it held up very well. Yours may be defective.

Guess better not waste money buying the Futaba battery. It is a Sony NP-F570 with a different color case and name on it.

My Sony pack works well. Here is a chart with a discharge curve for the Sony and Futaba packs:

http://www.scaleaerobatics.org/downloads/14MZ-BAT.pdf

And just an FYI, Futaba (Japan) says that the battery should go +/- 40 minutes after the alarm sounds at 19%. Both my packs go at least that long. However, some have reported only a very few minutes of on time before the TX shuts down after the alarm sounds. So, in general, it is a good idea NOT to get it that low.

Another bit of information - you cannot run the pack down low enough to kill it because even at 0% remaining (when the TX sill actually shut off) you are above 2.7 volts per cell. The pack has built in overcharge protection as well.

Hello guys

I do own this Sony NP-F570, I bought it from the local market (Greece) for 44Euro, and works JUST LIKE the Futaba.

I'm satisfied ... maybe a bigger in capacity pack would make me smile but so far this pack is fine.

As for the 19% limit, mine just hold for about 10-15 min. I never let the system go down this much. At 25% I 'm replacing the pack cause you never now :?
