I finally picked up my Swift Kit yesterday :banana

http://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic.php?t=25796

I forgot to pick up a set of Hawk Paddles for it while I was there, and since the LHS is about 2 hours away, I was going to order for Great Hobbies in Edmonton. However they don't have the paddles listed as "Hawk" paddles, they only have them listed by weight.

CHPHI6179 — 20 Gram Grey Flybar Paddles
Vendor: CENTURY HELICOPTERS

CHPHI6179A — 30 Gram Black Flybar Paddles
Vendor: CENTURY HELICOPTERS

So which should I buy? they have a 20 gram set, and a 30 gram set. Anyone know which is the weight fo the hawk paddles? Obviously I am looking for a stable, smooth slow cyclic for learning and AP so I am tempeted to go for the 30gm, but I don't know if they will be too heavy, considering the Swift paddles in the box are 12 grams.

I'm certain one of you must know what would be best!

Thanks,
Andrew

Use the black and put in a touch of expo would be my suggestion. That's what I did on the Condor anyway.

I just kept the stock ones on.

If you want to add some weight just put on some flybar weights (ksj). If you crash, the stock paddles are cheaper and the weights would probably be fine.
You can also fine tune your whole head and balance it out by adjusting the weights.

My 2 cents.

Mine has the stock paddles without weights and works fine. BUT - since I didn't try any other config how would I know... :? A little extra weight might have smoothed them out a little. Like Matt said - try adding weights to the stock ones and see how it goes.

I always add weights to my AP and scale ships. Especially if flying video.

Thanks Guys,
So, again I come to the question, how much weight? My only reference is G3. if I double the paddle weight, it becomes much slower and smoother to control for any given model.

If the stock are 12 grams, how much weight should I add?

5g/side?
10g/side?
20g/side?

I'm thinking experience would be the best knowledge here, and I have almost none!

I actually got the hawk paddle with the sliding weight. you can even use wheel collar for extra weight.

Probably 5-10g per side. I can't recall how much the weights weigh.
If you start with the weights closest to the head you can then move them out toward the paddles, and slowly dial it in to where you feel comfortable.

Dont forget the stock swft has 3mm flybar. those paddles you reference as century part #'s are most likely 4mm predator units. The stock swift paddles are sharp and light. Weights alone may tame them down, but the stock hawk 30 paddles will fit the 3mm bar and be slightly less agressive due to the rounded leading edge.
Weights will be helpful as well on those. K&S makes some nice split weights. Norbuns can get em.
Hey ya need some help with that swift lemme know. I keep wanting to visit Whistler to get some pics.
